Courthouse Gallery Seeks Exhibition Proposals

The Lake George Arts Project invites regional, national, emerging and established artists to submit exhibition proposals to the Courthouse Gallery in Lake George, NY. Preference is given for solo, or 2 or 3 person exhibitions, and to experimental or non-traditional work created in the last two years. We welcome proposals for special exhibitions, installations, mixed media presentations, and performance art.  The deadline is always January 31.

Call for Applications – Residency program in Namibia for artists from Germany

Akademie Schloss Solitude together with the National Art Gallery of Namibia and the Goethe-Institut Namibia is establishing a new residency program that will be committed to a long-term artistic and cultural exchange between Namibia and Germany. With this call for applications, we will offer artists from Germany, especially persons of African descent living in Germany, the opportunity to apply for a fellowship in Namibia.

The residencies are organized in the framework of a two-part workshop series curated by Namibian artist and historian Memory Biwa, which initiates a collective approach to the history of colonial relations between Namibia and Germany and develops new artistic narratives on this topic.

Down On Paper

More than any other object in history, an empty sheet of paper has taken people to places of endless imagination, design, and creativity. Paper has played a major role in the development of our world, the rise of civilizations, and in the lives of the people that have impacted it.  In art, music, writing, and cultural communication through visual, literal, or transitive means, paper has been the common thread of all of them.  In art, ideas that begin on paper often serve as the visionary basis for larger projects.  Vestige Concept Gallery seeks to pay homage to the "great and simple paper" by hosting an exhibit comprised entirely of works on paper, or made of paper.
