The Figure

Art Center Sarasota invites Regional Artists to submit work for our upcoming open call, The Figure.

The Figure celebrates a passion for the human form in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, and sculpture in any medium. Representational and abstract depictions of the figure are both encouraged and accepted in this open call.

Some notable figurative artists include: Cecily Brown, Alberto Giacometti, Lucian Freud, Jenny Saville, Wilhelm de Kooning, Nan Goldin, Pablo Picasso, and Jordan Casteel.

The Figure refers to the human form and not that of animals or imagined creatures.

Life: Full Colour Open Show 2022

The Life: Full Colour Open Show is back in 2022. If you’re a Wales-based artist looking for an opportunity to showcase your work in an independent gallery committed to living a life in full colour, our show is for you.

This year we’re encouraging artists to submit art that is “yn llawn emosiwn” or full of emotion and has evoked the strongest response from you. We want to see work that has stopped you in your tracks or work that you’ve battled with, but ultimately art that people will love to live with.

Our focus is on the visual arts so we are looking for artists who specialise in painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. Up to three pieces of work can be submitted.
