Call for Artists
Coined in the South: 2022

The Young Affiliates of the Mint, in collaboration with The Mint Museum, are seeking works of art produced by southeastern artists for the second installment of Coined in the South. This juried exhibition will be held from March 25, 2022 to July 3, 2022 at Mint Museum Uptown.

Coined in the South is about bridging the gap between the museum, the gallery, and the studio, to highlight the innovative and thought-provoking works produced by the creative innovators of the southeastern arts community. The show is not confined to any single aesthetic, theme, or medium.

METC Sidewalk Art Gallery Show

The Museum of Early Trades & Crafts (METC) is inviting New Jersey artists to submit artwork for an exhibition held in the METC Education Annex in October 2021. Artists are invited to create original fine artwork on canvas material that will be provided. Each banner will be a one-of-a-kind work of art using any medium of the artist’s choice reflecting the theme of “Hope.”

The canvas banners are 24’ x 36’ and will be on display in the Museum’s Education Annex windows for a period of three months starting on October 27, 2021 and ending February 28, 2022. At the end of the exhibition, METC will host a reception where the banners will be sold and/or auctioned. The sales/auction price will be divided between the artist (60%) METC (40%).

Southwest Contemporary Vol. 2: Flights of Fancy

Artists from across the American Southwest are invited to submit their work for possible inclusion in Southwest Contemporary Vol. 2: Flights of Fancy (to be published May 2021).

“Flights of Fancy,” the theme of our next quarterly magazine, describes the power to imagine alternate realities, create fantasies, and entertain absurdities in the mind’s eye.

Over the last year, amid isolation, disruption to our routines and priorities, and a crisis of misinformation, it’s been harder than ever to stay tethered to what’s “real.” Balancing physical reality, virtual reality, and the unrealities unfolding on our screens and in our newspapers, we’ve found that we really live in separate worlds.

2021 Old Town Keller Rotating Sculpture Program

In 2017, the Keller Public Arts Board implemented a rotating public art program for outdoor sculptures in the newly updated Old Town Keller area. A $1,500 honorarium is available for each piece selected by the Board for the fifth year of the program. The City of Keller invested over $4 million in improvements for the Old Town location, including the construction of a linear pedestrian promenade, addition of outdoor seating and community areas and installation of 11 concrete sculpture pads. Old Town is home to an eclectic blend of restaurants and small businesses that attract a variety of visitors and provide great exposure for art in the area. For 2021, the Board will select 5 sculptures for a two-year exhibit beginning in June 2021.
