About the exhibition

Real Art Awards 2020

Emerging artists living and working in New England, New York, and New Jersey are invited to submit their work for consideration for The Real Art Awards at Real Art Ways. Jurors will consider the quality of the artist’s work, the innovation evidenced by submitted work, the potential impact of the exhibition on the artist’s career and the economic and physical feasibility of the exhibition. Artists should submit work made within the last 3 years. Artists working in all media are welcome.

This process is extremely competitive. Last year we received nearly 500 applications, 6 artists are chosen. Those applying should be early in their careers or otherwise embarking on new, innovative works. Applicants are encouraged to get to know the programming at Real Art Ways before applying.

The BIG Picture: Large Works Competition

The Art League of Long Island is thinking BIG with its second juried exhibition of large works, titled “The Big Picture”, set to take place March 7 to April 24. Artists from Suffolk, Nassau, Brooklyn, and Queens are invited to submit applications to show their large works in the Art League's spacious Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery. The submission deadline is February 7, 2020.  Exhibition juror Charles A. Riley, Ph.D., Director of the Nassau County Museum of Art will select the participating artists and artist awards.

2020 Old Town Keller Rotating Sculpture Program

In 2017, the Keller Public Arts Board implemented a rotating public art program for outdoor sculptures in the newly updated Old Town Keller area. A $1,500 honorarium is available for each piece selected by the Board for the fourth year of the program. The City of Keller invested over $4 million in improvements for the Old Town location, including the construction of a linear pedestrian promenade, addition of outdoor seating and community areas and installation of 11 concrete sculpture pads. Old Town is home to an eclectic blend of restaurants and small businesses that attract a variety of visitors and provide great exposure for art in the area. For 2020, the Board will select up to 6 sculptures for a two-year exhibit beginning in June 2020.

Firing Imagination: Contemporary Ceramics & Glass

Opening January 10th, 6-10pm

We are in our 15th year of EMA exhibits, giving young local and second career artists exposure. We offer our space as a stepping-stone to procedures in the art world and how to exhibit and present your art in a professional manner.

These exhibits bring artists into an established gallery, most for the first time, giving them experience and making connections, networking with other artists while trying to break into the ever-difficult art world.
