Open Call: Proposals for Textile Exhibition

In honor of New York Textile Month the Textile Arts Center (TAC) is hosting a showcase in our newly expanded and renovated Brooklyn Studio. We are currently looking for exhibition proposals for three small pop-up galleries within the space. Because this exhibition correlates with NY Textile Month, proposals should focus on textiles, fibers and/or related techniques. Solo or group shows are welcome.

The selected exhibitions will be up for the month of September, and will include an opening reception on September 5. There will be a number of events at TAC for NY Textile Month so we anticipate a lot of foot traffic throughout September. The exhibition space will be open throughout the month during normal studio hours.

Participation is free. Please note that the gallery spaces are semi-private, and within a working studio that accommodates children and adult classes as well as TAC's Artists in Residence Program.

Curators/artists are responsible for delivery of artwork, installation, hardware, tools and de-installation. Any sales will be processed by the curators/artists with 100% of the commission going to the curator/artists.

SPACE INFORMATION:

- 7 ft x 10 ft space with 10 ft walls and 13 ft ceilings

- Space includes two tack walls, one brick wall, and one glass wall with door and window

- Each space includes an outlet and overhead lighting. Additional spot lighting will need to be provided by the artist/curator.

TIMELINE:

- Deadline: July 18

- Notification: August 1st

- Installation: August 29-31

- Opening Exhibition: September 5, 6-9pm

- Deinstallation: September 25-26
