50 cm x 41 cm - Acrylic on canvas - 2012

The profile photos are posted to present the personality behind them. Instead they vary from the purely and unintentionally comical to the eerie, or unnecessarily aggressive, intended to be a "cool" and fit iconic presentation of a facade worthy of this advertising society. The artist hence does little more than paint what she sees and leaves even the nicknames, she simply adds a bit more of freehand "jpeg-digital noise" because this noise accentuates this feeling of "disturbance", as does the use of "dissonant" colours. The artist aims to show the dark side of the "social network society" mixing the languages, creating a new multimedia language with real digital images taken from the Internet but painted using the traditional analog technique of acrylic on canvas.

Also my personal portrait was, once, a profile photo.
