Through the use of various fabrics and papers I create set-like still lifes reminiscent of quietly undulating landscapes. I demand vigilant attention to the utilized materials in each composition, as well as the assembly of such items. In doing so I capture a seemingly imaginary world that ends with the confines of the photographic frame. The photographic experience allows for the re-imagination and appreciation for a seemingly mundane yet spontaneous occasion. Each material and its qualities are heavily considered in terms of transparency, reflectiveness, texture, and malleability. With this attention to detail, each considered property quietly undulates throughout the fabric of the composition causing the audience to further engage with the series. Additionally, the scale of the photographs (25 inches by 20 inches) encourages viewers to dive deeper into the composition; thus enabling the audience to further analyze, observe, and appreciate the immense detail rippling throughout each photograph. Overall, I seek to photograph an image that re-imagines seemingly mundane scenes through an investigation of materiality.
