Call for Creatives




Born out of the desire to foster cultural curiosity, Castle of our Skins is a concert and educational series dedicated to celebrating Black artistry through music. From classrooms to concert halls, Castle of our Skins invites exploration into ​Black heritage and culture, spotlighting both unsung and celebrated ​figures of past and present. 


  • To foster community and collaboration with and among diverse creatives.
  • To provide a platform for creatives to share their artistic practice.
  • To strengthen, expand, and challenge COOS in a collaborative, creative environment.
  • To increase and diversify COOS’s culturally enriching projects to the general public and social media/online communities.


  • Develop a work or works in conjunction with our 2020-2021 season, based on the season’s needs, and in collaboration with COOS’s Artistic and Associate Artistic Directors. 
  • Be part of the curation process of one or more projects during the 2020-2021 season, and, if applicable, provide curatorial input into the 2021-2022 season. 
  • Write three BIBA Blog entries related to the COOS mission.
  • Participate in an interview with COOS Associate Artistic Director for a feature on the BIBA Blog, to be disseminated through various social media platforms.



  • Castle of our Skins seeks one Creative-in-Residence* whose work and experience reflect our mission.
  • International Emerging and Established Creatives* who will be between the ages of 20 and 40 by Monday, July 1, 2020.
  • Creatives of all genders, ethnicities, national origins, sexual orientations/identities, religions/beliefs, education and physical abilities are encouraged to apply. Applicants who identify as Black or belonging to the African diaspora as strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants who reside in the Greater Boston area are strongly encouraged to apply.

*NOTE: For this application “Creatives” are defined as artists of all practices, including by not limited to: composers/sound artists, musicians, video/film artists, dancers/choreographers, performance artists, visual artists, writers, spoken word, interdisciplinary artists, etc...

Dans i Blekinge are happy to announce that the applications for this year's residency are now open!




Date of Residence: August 3 - 23, 2020.

We offer two artist’s residence during a period of three weeks. Each residence refers to 1-4 people.  

Location: Ronneby municipality, in eastern Blekinge.

The application is open to all professional dance and performing artists. We welcome new graduates as well as experienced artists, national and international. Those with connection to Blekinge are prioritized. In the selection process, greater emphasis is placed on the artistic idea and method, rather than experience.


Blekinge Dance Residence 2020

This year's theme is Human / Nature. Throughout the residence, Dance in Blekinge wants artists to make space to ask questions and create dialogue between place and people. The theme is a starting point, we are interested in your concepts and ideas. The participating artists are encouraged to work freely within the themes. We encourage you who are applying to base your application on the theme of the residence, but if you already have an idea of ​​what you want to work on, we would love to hear it and process your application with or without connecting it to the theme.

Dance in Blekinge likes to see that the artists are interested in experimental approaches, interdisciplinary work and social practice, with dance as the central point of view. This year, we also plan to partner with Land404, an artist residence that runs parallel, which can open up interesting opportunities and collaborations.


Included in the residence

- Free access to studio space throughout the residence period.

- Travel compensation with up to SEK 5,000 / residence artist / group. (Only covers transportation by train, bus or ferry)

- Accommodation.

- Remuneration / a grant of SEK 20,000 / participating artist / group for the entire residence period.

- Daily training.

- Feedback sessions with a knowledgeable person.

- Sharing sessions on 1-2 occasions.

- Documentation of the work in the form of film and photo.

- Two performances in addition to the sharing sessions: One in Karlskrona Municipality at Dans i Blekinge's "Dansdag", and one at Massmanska Kvarnen in Ronneby.


Not included in the residence

- Food costs.

- Insurance.

- Travel exceeding the aforementioned amount.


Expectations on the artists

- To conduct daily training during the residency period.

- To hold some open rehearsals/sharing sessions for the public.

- Participation in the residency showings/  performances.

Apply Now: Your Move Dance Festival





APPLY FOR Your Move Modern Dance Festival 2019: Now accepting Submissions
Your Move's 2019 season will be held at The Loew's Theater in Jersey City: November 13th through November 17th 2019. Selected choreographers will receive a $100 stipend, photos of their performance and two performance slots over the four shows. Applications are due no later than June 9, 2019 by midnight EST and cost $20. Late submissions will be accepted until June 14, 2019 by midnight EST for a fee of $30. Accepted choreographers will be notified by early-July. Choreographers are invited to submit one movement-based piece (no more than 10 minutes in length) for consideration. 

Your Move, the award-winning modern dance festival presented by Art House Productions, features local, national, and international high-caliber modern dance companies during a weekend of mixed billed performances. The festival is highly revered in the community as a staple of the dance cultural calendar (see 2017 review). Your Move welcomes a wide range of movement performance including modern and post-modern dance, physical theater, dance-theater, improvisational performance, dance films, and more.

Artist Lock In





The Artist Lock In, now in its fifth year, is the flagship residency produced by ArtHouse Jersey in partnership with WildWorks.


We are currently seeking artists from all backgrounds and disciplines to apply for this inspiring experience. Facilitated by Sue Hill (Wildworks, Eden Project), artists will spend 10 days living and working together, learning from each other’s practice and responding to the natural environment.


Key information:

Dates of the 2019 Artist Lock In: 22 September - 1 October 2019 (inclusive).

Location: Greve de Lecq Barracks, Jersey, Channel Islands.

Deadline for applications: 31 May 2019


Away from the distractions of everyday life, the Lock In encourages an atmosphere in which to explore new approaches and different styles of making. This is a supported opportunity to fill your lungs with fresh sea air, step out of your comfort zone and collaborate with artists from across the globe without the pressure of a deadline or expectation of a fully finished outcome.


For the first time, the Artist Lock In will take place at Greve De Lecq Barracks, ArtHouse Jersey’s new home. In a sheltered bay on the North coast of Jersey, Greve De Lecq Barracks will become your playground for the duration of the residency.


Dating from 1810 the Barracks are in close proximity to coastal paths, beaches and woodland making it the perfect environment to rewild your practice. We are particularly interested in hearing from artists who are
keen to explore what our role might be in shaping our future and how the arts can have a positive impact in a rapidly changing environment.
