Artfare Artist Submissions

Artfare is a new platform that allows artists and patrons to connect through our iphone app.  Patrons can follow artists, request studio visits, and purchase work posted by our curated group of professional artists. 

Artfare allows artists to present their work to a broad audience and connect with patrons both digitally and in person through studio visits, exhibitions and events. Using our iPhone app, artists can also discover and communicate with other artists and curators, and work together to independently organize exhibitions and events.

Artfare artists are based in NYC and actively make and show their work. Our group is carefully curated and highly selective. In addition to quality and maturity in the work, we seek artists with professional track records and career ambition. We aim to create a well rounded program that represents all voices and mediums. Our tools and services will allow you to: 

  • Easily share links to your available works and facilitate sales from your studio, both on and offline
  • Build a following of potential patrons and curators in a professional context
  • Receive tax documents at year end and let Artfare collect, file, and pay sales tax on your behalf

Trestle Gallery Artist Residencies

Trestle Gallery has two residency opportunities with April 15th deadlines, our Trestle Artist Residency and Visiting Artist Residency. For details on each of the residencies, continue reading below.

About the Trestle Artist Residency
This residency is aimed at helping artists find a foothold in the art world while they develop a new body of work as an Trestle Art Space Member. Residents receive a 10% discount on the TAS Membership while getting additional support of 6 months advisory with Jason Stopa, Adrienne Tarver, or Christina Kelly. Residents are also given the opportunity to exhibit their work at Trestle. Participants receive all benefits of a Trestle Art Space Membership as well as monthly group advisory meetings which include critiques, guest speakers, and studio visits. By participating in this program artists take advantage of networking and community building opportunities in addition to having access to low-cost studio space. The residents give back to the community and get a peek into the administrative end of the art world by volunteering in the gallery or studio for three hours per month. All artists are invited to apply. Applications are accepted twice each year.

Part of the Trestle Artist Residency program is the option to participate in an end of year Residency Exhibition with rotating prominent guest curators. The guest curator for the 2019 residency cycle will be Eriola Pira.

1. Artists developing a new body of work
2. Artists entering or re-entering the art world
3. Artists who have graduated with a BFA or MFA within the past two years (note: this residency is open to all artists, Bachelors/Masters degrees are not required).

Visiting Artist Residency

About the Visiting Artist Residency:
The Visiting Artist Residency at Trestle Gallery allows artists to explore their practice and share their artistic experience with the Trestle Gallery and Art Space community. Each cycle, one artist receives a free private studio membership for six months at Trestle Art Space. The Visiting Resident Artist leads monthly public critiques for the duration of the residency.

This residency is ideal for established artists with a serious practice looking for a space to make work while engaging with the Trestle Gallery & Art Space community.

Call for Artists | 2020 Dalton Gallery Exhibitions

The Arts Council of York County is now accepting applications for 2020 gallery exhibitions in the Dalton Gallery at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730. The Arts Council is a non-profit organization committed to creating and supporting a thriving arts community in York County, South Carolina. The Dalton Gallery, a professional gallery appropriated for the exhibition of experienced artists and community projects, is located at the Center for the Arts. The Dalton Gallery is an 1,800-square-foot space, illuminated by adjustable track lighting. 

Each year the Arts Council presents six to eight exhibits. Artists wishing to be considered as a solo or group exhibition for one of the Arts Council's 2020 gallery exhibitions, must submit the following to Mike Gentry, Gallery Manager, by 5 PM on Friday, April 5, 2019:
•    Exhibition proposal describing themes, goals, and vision of the artist(s) in the presentation of the body of work submitted for consideration. Artists may submit proposals for exhibition as a group or individually.
•    Artist statement describing the techniques used in the creation of the work, and the ideas of concepts communicated through the works submitted for exhibition.
o    Artist(s) must include a statement of clarification within their artist statement if the works submitted are not the works intended for exhibition. In this case, artists must submit examples of previous works, and a discussion of the techniques and concepts that will be utilized in the planned exhibition works.
•    Artist resume or curriculum vitae that includes name, contact information, short biography, list of past exhibitions, education notable honors, awards, publications.
•    10 to 12 hi-res images (300 dpi jpegs) representing work intended for exhibition.
•    Inventory list with titles, sizes, and mediums that have been numbered to correspond to the file names of the images submitted for consideration.
•    $20 submission fee.

The Arts Council's Gallery Committee will consider all submissions and notification of acceptance will be provided via e-mail. Submission packets will not be returned. Only complete proposals that adhere to the Arts Council's submission guidelines will be considered. Works that sell while on exhibit at the Center for the Arts are subject to a 40% commission fee by the Arts Council of York County.
