Call to Artists: Collage Poet in Residence

MERZ is partnering with Kolaj Institute to offer a solo residency to one artist who works at the intersection of Poetry and Collage.

Over a two-week period, the Collage-Poet-In-Residence will live in the Bothy at MERZ and work out of the MERZ Gallery to make a body of collage poems that will be presented as part of World Collage Day 2023 in Sanquhar and be published in a future issue of PoetryXCollage. Kolaj Institute will consider the publication of a chapbook of collage poetry.

Collage Artists Call for Photosynthesis Magazine

Photosynthesis Magazine is holding an open call for our first issue to be released in June 2023. The theme for our innaugural issue will be "Origins". All submissions should be mixed media or collage and fall into this theme of beginnings, starting anew, and rebirth. Works can (and are encouraged to) explore philosophical ideas about origins. This call is open to all artists worldwide. Submission to the magazine is free. If you are accepted into an issue, a standard charge of $25 USD to participate will be requested to finalize your spot in the magazine. Please fill out the short form below to be considered.

Collage in Motion at Kolaj Fest New Orleans

Kolaj Institute seeks short films and other sorts of moving images for a screening as part of Kolaj Fest New Orleans. Collage on Screen will take place at 5:30PM on 8 June 2023 at Broad Theatre in New Orleans. Collage on Screen will focus on works that are generally between 1 and 15 minutes long. (The organizers may ask the creators for an excerpt from work if it is longer than 15 minutes.) Our goal is to showcase the diversity of this medium. Afterwards we will host The Pixel Party at 7PM at The Broadside, next door to the theater, which will feature submitted gifs projected onto the walls and have live music, food and a cash bar. The films will be featured in the festival program book.

Collage as Street Art Residency: New Orleans

A week-long, in-person residency that coincides with Kolaj Fest New Orleans (7-11 June 2023), during which artists will explore the city, learn about the history and materials of street art, and make artwork for public display that Kolaj Fest attendees and New Orleanians will be able to view.

Deadline to Apply: Sunday, 16 April 2023. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis until space is filled. Artists are encouraged to apply well before the deadline.

ONLINE/REMOTE Collage Collective Collaboration Opportunity

Looking to start an online Collage Collective that meets twice a month through Zoom (Thursdays at 8pm, EST)

There will be 16 spots for now while we attempt to get this off the ground! The point of this group is to discuss and uplift fellow collage artists work, form connections with other artists, create a social media presence that promotes our members creations and achievements, and most of all to inspire each other.  Many artists find themselves unable to commit to a residency while balancing work, education and more, therefore with the forming of a group like this, one can experience the benefits of such a community with a schedule that encourages more fluid deadlines and time commitments.

Call to Artists: Collage & Folklore Residency: Knoxville

During the Folklore & Collage Residencies, artists identify stories from communities and make art which activates these stories. Prior to arrival in Knoxville, artists will meet once virtually to meet one another and to discuss how to select the folklore on which they will focus during the residency.
