Residency in Colombia -May 2023

ArteSumapaz is a non-profit arts and culture center located on a magical piece of terrain in the Andean mountains, about three hours outside Bogotá. The artist residency program (AIR) is designed for visual artists, musicians, writers, architects, clay artists, performers, and other makers. It is a self-directed residency, where artists have full access to studio spaces of all kinds (visual art, music, movement, writing, etc.) throughout the vast and beautiful campus. Artists are given the space, freedom, and encouragement to explore and experiment with their own work. The artists are welcome to participate in weekly “open critique” sessions (group discussions about their work), to share workshops or exhibitions.

Inspired by the legacy of such great residencies as Yaddo and Macdowell, we've designed our Artist-in-Residency program to be one in which visual artists, writers, musicians, and other makers, have the opportunity to experience profound growth. We believe there are three major aspects that can help contribute to break-through: inspiring working space; being surround by awesome nature; and commensality with like-minded souls.

Residencies in Latin America (Colombia and Mexico City)

Month-long residencies in Colombia or Mexico City. We offer identical programmes in both countries.

Fully-equipped, private, modern apartment. Separate studio space for production. Gallery space for exhibition of works.

Full artistic and logistical support given to the research and production stages of your work or project.

Full introduction to the local artistic community, if desired.

Cost to artist: $1,500 US Dollars per month. This does not include travel or production costs. It does include basic amenities, staple foods and a comfortable, creative environment. Both locations are large enough to accomodate partners and small families.

Bespoke residencies. Programmes are year-round. All disciplines, techniques and media considered.
