Welcome to Eyelands 9th International Short Story Contest! We’re looking for short stories, of 2.500 words maximum in any genre on the theme of “Round Midnight”. The competition has been running for 9 consecutive years with increasing success. Every year, we are delighted to give the opportunity to writers from all over the world to see their work published in English and Greek and also to enjoy a week's holiday in a beautiful beach house on the island of Crete! The contest is run by Eyelands online literary magazine and Strange Days Publications.

The contest runs from March 20th through June 20th, 2019

Theme of the contest: “Round Midnight”

Word Limit: 2.500 words

First prize: A week’s holiday on the island of Crete (for 2)

First three winners’ stories published in two different anthologies (Greek and English).

All the stories of the Shortlist will be published in a special English edition, released through amazon.com & strangedays books.

All shortlisted writers will also get a free copy of the book, certification document and a book from Strange Days Books.

An interview with the first prize winner will also be featured in eyelands.gr online literary magazine.

PAPERWORKS 2019 National Juried Competition

Award: Exhibition of up to 6 selected works, August 2019 at b.j. spoke gallery, Huntington, NY from August 1-28, 2019.  Opening Reception: Saturday, August 3rd from 6:00-9:00pm

Eligibility: Artists living in the United States who use paper as their primary medium, as a substrate, or as the subject of a video.
Media: Works made of, on or about paper: cut paper, folded paper, woven paper, glued paper, drawings, paintings, pastels, prints, photographs, paper sculpture, 3D, bound books, collage, mixed media, video, and installation.  
Entry Fee: 35.00 for up to 6 images.  Artists will be judged on the body of work submitted.

Exposures: Photography is an annual competition held at Lawrence Street Gallery, to highlight fine art made with photography.  Our juror this year is Terry Abrams, who is an experienced international educator, photographer, and artist.  He has worked with both film and digital technologies in photography and has studied with Paul Caponigro, Arnold Newman, Michael Kenna and others.  He teaches photograpy full-time at Wshtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, MI.  He co-produced the Great Lakes Digital Conference, conducting workshops alongside Thomas Knoll, the inventor of Adobe Photshop, and also teaches travel workshops internationally.  His images and writing are reproduced in numerous books on photography and in galleries.

YICCA 18/19 - International Contest of Contemporary Art

The competition’s aim is to promote the enrolled artists, giving them chance to join the international market of contemporary art.

Internationality and networking make YICCA a huge opportunity for the artists, which can:

Jury’s final decision will lead to a selection of 18 artists that will participate in the final exhibition.

All kinds of art works are accepted, including video, installations and performances. All works will be presented by a picture or a video that must be followed by a description of the work.

All works must be available for the final exhibition and have to be artist’s property. The contest is open to all artists or groups of artists and professionals from any country. There are no special qualifications requiered for entry.

International Photography Contest

Eligibility:

Photographers from all over the world are invited to submit their work. All styles and levels of experience are welcome. Winners will be selected by a jury and announced on May 4. The winning selections will be printed and framed by FMoPA and exhibited in the Community Gallery from June 1-July 23. There will be a formal opening reception from 5-7 p.m. June 28 at the museum.

 

This year’s categories include: People/Portraits, Places/Landscape/Drone, Nature/Science/Animals, Documentation/Social and Political Photojournalism, Still Life, Abstract Photography and Conceptual Photography. Each category will have first, second and third place winners. First-place winners will receive $100-cash prizes. One submission will be awarded Best in Competition over all seven categories and receive a $1,000 prize. Finally, one submission will be awarded People’s Choice and is decided by public votes on the competition website.
