Open call for artists for online exhibition: Digital U

For this year’s Digital U micro-commission, Art Gene welcomes applications from artists and creatives to exhibit projects that explore the collision of art and the environment in the digital age, selected by Digital U returning Guest Curator Alejandro Ball.

Six artists will be given the opportunity to exhibit on Art Gene’s online exhibition space Digital U-Hang. The exhibitions will be posted online between October 2019 – March 2020 and will remain online as part of Art Gene’s archive of projects.

32 Festival Les Instants Vidéo - November 2019

The Festival Les Instants Vidéo is an event dedicated to video art and electronic poetry with its multiple forms, monobands, installations, performances, multimedia...

In 1969, Neil Armstrong set the firstmankind foot on the moon. The same year, Nam June Paik created a bra with two tiny TV sets featuring this remarkable event.Charlotte Moorman wore it overherbare breast as she played her cello : TV Bra for Living sculptures. The event got even more remarkable. Video art created a constellation connecting erotism, technology and the cosmos. In 2019, thousands of women, men and children (thousands of Neil Armstrong) are not allowed to set foot on the ground. They are wrecked at sea aboard their miniature Apollo 11. The shrinking of the planet and humans’dreams.

ATHENS DIGITAL ARTS FESTIVAL

15th ATHENS DIGITAL ARTS FESTIVAL | MAY 2019

 The World is a Hologram

Dating back to antiquity, theories which want us living in a hologram, apart from science fiction can also be endorsed by scientific data. Those who believe in the holographic theory of the universe, support that everything we know in our world are three dimensional depictions of data, stored in a two-dimensional form somewhere at the edge of our universe. This automatically means that we are all closely bonded with everything around us, as part of one large unity where the present, past, and future coexist simultaneously.

Shine Emerging Artist Programme

The SHINE programme aims to nurture and develop new talent, giving artists the opportunity to exhibit or perform new work at 5 of the LUTN festivals (Light Night Leeds, Lightwaves at Salford Quays, Enchanted Parks in Gateshead, Light Up Lancaster and LightPool in Blackpool). Up to four artists or collectives will be awarded bursaries of up to £4,000 each to realise their new artwork. The artwork has to be suitable for a winter light festival, artistically challenging/interesting and of high quality, have a strong element of digital/technology within its design, and be resilient enough to withstand the winter weather at multiple festivals (September - December) and transportation across our festival network.
