The Arc Project: Humans from Mundane to Mythical

Calling all artists, this is more than just an ordinary portrait show. It’s a visual exploration of creativity and humanity!
Humans make for fascinating subjects. As artists, we start with the simple task of capturing the spirit of being human in our works. We navigate the many challenges -- limitations of media and skill, discomfort, emotional visceral interactions and reactions -- yet we yearn to say something, capturing an essence that sometimes only we can see. This is the point where this exhibit begins -- with human beings in front of us; extracting from life the ordinary and mundane to the fantastical and mythical! All representations are valid ways to celebrate the beautiful arc of our humanity -- that shared experience which celebrates us!

Royal Society of Marine Artists | Open Call

Artists are invited to submit work for exhibition alongside members of the Royal Society of Marine Artists at their Annual Exhibition 2022 (the exhibition will run from 22 September until 1 October at Mall Galleries, London).

APPLICATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY 8 JULY, 12 noon

The Royal Society of Marine Artists seeks submissions of art inspired by the sea and marine environment, including harbours and shorelines, traditional craft and contemporary shipping, creeks, beaches, wildlife - in short anything that involves tidal water.

The Society's annual exhibition offers several prizes and awards, including The Charles Pears Award for an outstanding work by a non-member (see 'Prizes & Awards' below).

LAST WEEK TO ENTER: Figurative Art Now

Established in 1961, the Federation of British Artists (FBA) is a major visual arts charity championing figurative art. It operates the Mall Galleries and comprises nine of the UK’s leading art societies. For its 60thanniversary, the FBA is launching a brand-new online exhibition and prize: Figurative Art Now.

Figurative artists of any age working in the UK can enter online for the chance to be selected by an eminent judging panel of artists and critics. The selected work will show in Figurative Art Now this summer. The exhibition welcomes a variety of work in different styles and media including painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and illustration.
