Open City Documentary Festival creates an open space to nurture and champion the art of creative documentary and non-fiction filmmakers, and over 4,000 people attended last year's festival to enjoy some of the very best in contemporary and international documentary. Submit your film or project now for your chance to be a part of London's documentary festival.

Submissions for Open City Documentary Festival 2019 are now open. We're looking for the most exciting and innovative non-fiction storytelling in short, mid-length and feature length documentaries, short audio documentaries, as well as cross-platform projects.

Prizes are awarded in three categories:

Open City Award 
Best Emerging International Filmmaker Award 
Best UK Short Award

Open Call for LGBTQ* FilmMakers for Cinema Conversación

Cinema Conversación aims to bring the audience in direct dialogue with artists and filmmakers, thus creating a platform where thoughts and experiences can be shared freely and where the usual separation between spectator and artist is lifted. Thus, the format of the programme is constituted by a presentation of the given work that is followed by an open discussion between the artist(s) and the audience. Moreover, Cinema Conversación is deliberately focusing on LGBTQ* experiences or aesthetics and would like to facilitate an ongoing discussion about feelings, desires, issues, goals, and social, political, and artistic positions of LGBTQI* individuals and communities. 

EARTH PHOTO: SHORTLIST & 2018 EXHIBITION ANNOUNCED

A shortlist of 50 exceptional photographs and films that document the earth in all its diversity, will be presented at the Royal Geographical Society in London from 23 July to 21 September 2018 for the inaugural Earth Photo exhibition. Developed jointly by Forestry Commission England and the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), and supported by Cox & Kings and Stanfords, Earth Photo aims to enable a better understanding of the world around us, focussing on four key themes - People, Nature, Place and Change.

Short Film submissions open for Norwich Film Festival 2018

Want to get your short film seen, win cash and software prizes, and scoop a prestigious trophy?
Make sure you submit your short film to Norwich Film Festival 2018.

Now in it's 8th year, the festival is a British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) Qualifying Short Film Festival and was also chosen by The Metro as one of 'the top UK film festivals you need to know about.' 

Films should be no longer than 25 minutes long and must have been completed after January 2016. 

This year's categories include Best Short Film, Best Animation, Best Documentary, Best Student Film, One Minute Movie and the return of The East Anglian Award. Winners of each category get a £1000 cash prize.
