NYC4PA - THE HUMAN BODY

Lately there has been much focus on human body, in all aspects of our life, from the spiritual to the everyday.  What can you show in public, what can’t you show? How do we decorate our body, from tattoos to nail polish?  Should we fix a nose, a large tummy, and do we want to pierce our noses, ears, lips, navels?  How long should we let our hair grow?

For this call the focus is on bodies – from head to toe, in and out of focus, as a well-lit image or silhouette, dressed or undressed.

Please no sexually explicit images; nudes are just fine.

As with all calls, all 2D photographic art is accepted.

Luminous Bodies

Luminous Bodies is a two-week residency to create artworks that shed new light on the human body. Its objective is to challenge “normativity” and Otherness. Its goal is to reinvent and re-present the body in most inclusive and diverse ways.

Resident artist talks, gallery tours, visual and textual references, guest artist talks, and regular critiques (individual with Facilitator and group critiques) help uncover how our bodies are culturally and aesthetically constructed, displayed and controlled.

Clearly Human IV

The St. Louis Artists’ Guild is proud to host Clearly Human IV, an all-media group exhibition of artwork focused on the human figure. Clearly Human IV gives a comprehensive look at the many ways of representing the human figure, from traditional to contemporary, realistic to fanciful, beautiful to unsettling. The exhibit seeks a diverse view of the humanity representing subjects varying greatly in gender, age, ethnicity, and nationality. The artists are encouraged to use the figure to explore a wide variety of themes, including definitions of beauty, perceptions of history, relationships with nature, and moments of everyday life.
