The Festival that connects the Aegean landscape and nature with Audiovisual Arts, Little Islands Festival (LIF) is addressing an open call for its 4th edition towards all artistic communities experimenting with hybrid artistic practices at the boundaries of the performing and digital arts.

#Communality

LIF 2022's new open call through the theme "Communality" places artistic creation at the core of Community to trace the meanings and representations of community life in space, place and time. Through contemporary art, we seek to create a cultural experience that elevates co-creation, shared experience, and participation into a driving force for the day to come.

*This year’s categories include:

LIF 2022 is looking for proposals in the following categories: AV Performances, Music, VJ, Interactive Installations, Video Art, Animation, Silent Film with live soundscapes, Virtual Reality, 3D Mapping projection, Workshops. Special emphasis will be given to artistic proposals with interactive art interventions and works that propose the experience of participation.

Site-Specific "Cosmolocalism''. Each community is local yet recognizes a vast world outside its borders that shapes itself-image. The concept of cosmolocalism wants here to transfer the topical to the imaginary dimension of the universal, the common belonging to humanity, to project the local wealth globally without however eliminating its specificity.

Indicatively, the artistic process may involve interconnected works in the form of texts, photographic narratives, music, sounds, films and other forms of new media practices. This application concerns artists engaged in the research, protection or production of cultural heritage (tangible and intangible) and collective memory of communities in Greece.

The selected proposals are scheduled to be presented in August of 2022 for the 4th edition of the Little Islands Festival (LIF), in the Cycladic settlement "Castle" of Sikinos.

Prizes Details:

Participants in the category of live acts, site-specific projects and workshops will receive support:

  • In travelling costs, accommodation and technical equipment.
  • With any applications to secure additional funding.

Participants in the category of screenings will have discounted costs for accommodation and ferry tickets from Piraeus to Sikinos islands and back.

The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh announces a request for proposals for its annual Tough Art Residency Program. The residency invites artists to work in the museum to develop and create artworks that will be exhibited fall/winter 2020.

This residency offers a $5,000 honorarium, $3,500 materials budget, access to fabrication facilities, marketing and documentation services, and an opening reception. Out-of-town artists are provided with housing and transit to/from Pittsburgh. The residency runs June through mid-September 2020; artists are expected to be in Pittsburgh for the duration of the residency.

Members of the museum’s exhibition staff work hand in hand with artists to produce interactive and innovative artworks that have a direct impact on the visitor experience. Throughout the residency, artists work collaboratively with staff to build prototypes, test ideas on the museum floor, and fabricate and install a finished work that is “tough” enough to thrive in a hands on environment.

We seek submissions from artists who represent the broad spectrum of the greater artist community. We value diversity in age, gender, ethnicity and gender expression as well as diversity in medium.
