Registration for the next Res Artis Meeting in Kyoto is now open! The conference, Creative Encounters: Reimagining Residencies, will be hosted by Kyoto City and Kyoto Art Center in cooperation with the Agency of Cultural Affairs from February 6-8, 2019.

This 3-day meeting will address the evolution of arts residency models and rapid expansion of the field. We will compare traditional ‘time and space’ models with new residency typologies that reflect our changing social economy. Nomadic, start-up, virtual and Airbnb residencies will all be explored. The meeting will pose questions about the progression of the field using examples in Japan and internationally. How can we evaluate these new models? How can artist residencies remain socially engaged and respond to artists’ needs? How are these innovative new models funded?

These key themes of the meeting will be reflected in Kyoto, a unique city where traditional and contemporary arts co-exist. Like artists in residence encountering different places for the first time, participants will experience the rich culture of Kyoto by way of excursions, city walks and tea ceremonies that will encourage further dialogue and networking.

Onishi Project Winter Group Show: Parts I, II & III

Onishi Project (OP) was established in 2012 as the art management division of Onishi Gallery. The gallery is located in Chelsea, New York, the center of contemporary art. We advise individual artists how to promote their work through gallery shows and communicating with collectors & museum curators. By joining Onishi Project, not only will you introduce your art, but you will also learn how to promote your work in the international market.

Winter 2019 Call For Artists

Conditions of Entry:

-Each artist can exhibit up to 3 pieces of work

-Size limit: 24 x 24 in. (60 x 60 cm) per piece (contact the gallery if size exceeds)

-Artist responsible for transportation of artworks

-Winter Group Show: Part I

Opening Reception: Thursday, January 10th, 2019 6-8pm

-Winter Group Show: Part II
Exhibition Dates: 1/22 – 2/2/19
Opening Reception: Thursday, January 24, 2019 6-8pm

-Winter Group Show: Part III
Exhibition Dates: 2/5 – 2/16/19
Opening Reception: Thursday, February 7th, 2019 6-8pm

Provided by the Gallery:

-An opening reception at the gallery for the artists with complimentary drinks

-Artist’s portfolio page created on the gallery website

-Promotion of the exhibition through social media, gallery mailing list & advertisements

-Obtain critiques from art professionals in NYC

-Juried competition will take place to choose (1) artist within each series of annual showings to be awarded a solo show at the gallery

Group Exhibition Information:

Each show will last two weeks, and include a maximum number of 10 artists each. Upon consideration of artists’ schedules, OP will determine the theme of each show and the combination of artists. Each show will be installed by our professional and experienced staff. If you would like to have a solo show, please contact the gallery.

Submission Guidelines:

Please include your name, email and mailing address, phone number, which exhibition, high resolution jpgs of at least 3 images of your work, including title, media, size and year. Please include a link to your website if applicable as well as an artist’s resume/CV. Please send submission info & any questions to: dpierce@onishigallery.com. All large files should be sent using a free file sharing site, such as WeTransfer.com. 

Participation Fees:

-Management fee per artist payable upon acceptance via check, credit card (U.S.) or wire transfer (outside U.S.)

-When artwork is sold, the artist will receive 70% of the gross amount. Onishi Project will take 30% as commission.

Applications for the 10th International Youth Arts Festival are now open

Applications are open to any arts projects or performances involving people aged 5 to 26 years. These may be professional or amateur, and children or young adults may be involved as performers, creators and artists or as producers and event managers.
Applications can feature work of any genre: theatre, music, dance, film, comedy, circus, cabaret, visual arts and more.
Work can be suitable for any age-group, and we are also happy to receive applications from artists aged 26+ whose work is specifically targeted at young audiences.

The International Youth Arts Festival attracts a friendly audience of many thousands, who return year after year.
There are no venue hire fees at the International Youth Arts Festival. All selected applicants are programmed into a venue by our Festival Director – from the main auditorium at Kingston’s Rose Theatre to intimate studio spaces and the outdoor stage.
Successful applicants must pay a registration fee of £150. Unsuccessful applicants do not pay a fee.
