Claybash 2023

Hunterdon Art Museum invites applications to our first triennial juried exhibition of ceramics. The form and content of your work will be up to you,  the artist/maker. We are seeking lively and interesting interpretations of clay as material and idea. Your work may – or may not – fall within the traditional terms of description as “functional” or “sculptural”.

Notice of Acceptance | June 12TH, 2022

Exhibition Dates | July 16TH – 30TH, 2022

“Making portraits is more than a physical form, it’s a silent communication in understanding and respect between the photographer and the subject.  There’s an internal emotion and fire of the soul that you try to capture.   – Sandra”

In her book, Portraits and Persons, writer Cynthia Freeland describes three essential elements that constitute a portrait: “(1) a recognizable physical body (2) an inner life, i.e., some sort of psychological or mental states and (3) self-presentation, or the "posing.”

HOME

Artless Bastard is a non profit gallery dedicated to supporting the arts and artists. Submit to our group juried show, HOME. What is HOME to you? What does that word mean or sybolize? Is it a place, a person, a smell and a food. After "having" to be in our homes this past year we have hopefully learned alot about how that makes us feel. Orignal artwork must be ready to hang. All mediums accepted - read the guidelines and dates on our call for art page.

Reciprocity

Juried by Collaborators Barbara Ciurej + Lindsay Lochman

Exhibition: March 4 - April 3, 2021

Final Entry Due Date: February 7, 2021 at 5 PM

Reciprocity is a relation of mutual dependence, action or influence. In photography, reciprocity refers to the relationship between the aperture (f-stop) and shutter speed, which work dependently and inversely to capture light. It is the key to the perfect exposure.

In reciprocal relationships, like in any collaborative act, ideas and conversations are exchanged, enriching participants intellectually and emotionally. Whether through aesthetic bond, mentor/mentee relationships, friendship, photographer/subject or teacher to student, our pursuits are sustained by these relationships.
