Queer Conscience 2023 Photography Exhibition

Juried by: Kari Orvik, Nathan Lomas, and The Image Flow

The Image Flow invites artists closely tied to the LGBTQIA2+ community to submit work to our juried photography exhibition Queer Conscience 2023.

What could you do with a clear conscience? Who could you be? How could you live, free of judgment, shame, expectation, or fear?

The queer experience is unlike any other, and even within our vibrant community, no two queer identities are quite alike. This is what has the power to unite us; a respect for our differences that can create bonds like family. Living as a queer person can be complex, and frightening, and beautiful all at once.

IV International Christmas Postcards Contest “FULL COLOR XMAS”

La Vienísima announces the fourth International Christmas Postcards Contest “FULL COLOR XMAS”. An online initiative that was born with the desire to give visibility to the LGBTIQ collective during these winter holidays, and that seeks, among other objectives: to enhance respect for diversity, defend the different existing family models, promote culture from a more inclusive perspective, and serve as a platform for artists and art lovers.

5th PROUD+ [LGBTQ+ Artists]

For the first time, the exhibit will be held for two months concurrent with nationally recognized Pride (June) and San Diego Pride (July).

Exhibition Dates: June 4 - July 30, 2022

Juror: Alyssa Nitchun, Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art Executive Director

Queer Identities Open Call

Themes of identity are highly celebrated amongst the exhibitions at IC Contemporary, and with our close connection to the queer community, ICC would like to showcase more artwork that speaks to queer experiences and identity.

Each year our gallery is going to host a queer exhibit and we want you to be a part of it! This current call is for the group or solo exhibition that explores Queer Identities.

In the past, our Queer Identities exhibit was a survey on the subliminal thought processes many members of the LGBTQIA+ community experience while living in a world that revolves around heteronormativity. It mainly focuses on queer experiences of minority stress and the repercussions of the innate pressure for them to follow feminine and masculine norms.
