58th Annual Juried Competition at the Masur Museum of Art

The Masur Museum of Art in Monroe, Louisiana invites contemporary artists working in any medium to enter the 58th Annual Juried Competition. Best in Show receives $1,000, and total awards are $3,200. Entry fee is $10/artwork (min 2/max 5 artworks). Online entry deadline: December 3, 2020 at 5pm CST. The exhibition will be on view in our historic building from February 25 – May 8, 2021 with an opening reception TBA. This year, work will be judged by Dr. Kelli Morgan: independent curator, historian, and culture critic!

Deadline is 5pm Central on December 3, 2020.

Open to any artist 18+ living in the United States. Work must have been completed after Dec 1, 2018. 

Call out: Both Sides Now with Fatima Al Qadiri

We’re looking for emerging female musicians, producers, visual artists and performance artists to take part in this exciting cross-artform residency led by composer, producer and conceptual artist Fatima Al Qadiri, developed in collaboration with curator and researcher Amal Khalaf.

Based at the People’s History Museum in Manchester across four days (9-12 July), you’ll collaborate to create new work inspired by the current exhibition Represent! Voices 100 Years Onwhich reflects on those who campaigned for better representation (most famously the suffragettes) and asks ‘How far have we really come in 100 years?’ 

The residency will culminate in a live showcase performance as part of ‘Radical Lates’ at the museum on Thursday 12 July.

Artquest - The Horniman Residency

Artquest, in partnership with the Horniman, are offering a research residency for one London based artist to focus on our collections (Anthropology, Aquarium and Animal Walk, Archive, Butterfly House, Natural History, Gardens or Musical Instruments). The residency includes an award of £3000 to engage with the work and collections of the museum, an additional award of £850 towards a public facing event showcasing the thinking and research undertaken during the residency and privileged access to museum’s music collection objects and curators. We particularly welcomes applications from artists with a participatory or socially engaged practice.

Music at the Museum with Firefly Burning

If you’re 16-25, working towards a music career and want to be inspired this summer – join experimental folk rock band Firefly Burning for ‘Music at the Museum’ – a week-long residency of collaborative songwriting and music-making.

Taking inspiration from the incredible collections at Manchester Museum, you’ll spend five days from 8-12 July writing, creating and performing new music under the artistic guidance of award-winning artists John Barber and James Redwood from the band Firefly Burning.

Both Sides Now with Natalie McCool

We’re looking for talented female singers, songwriters and instrumentalists aged 13-18 to take part in an exciting week-long music project in Liverpool in May (Mon 28 May – Fri 1 Jun).

Led by the incredible Natalie McCool, you’ll work together to create new music and perform live at the British Music Experience.

This is a unique opportunity to develop your songwriting and performance skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Palaces, museums, art spaces. 2017 "International Surrealism Now" includes more than 100th artists from 48th countries and the list keeps growing.

The new edition of Surrealism Now will be at POROS Museum in Condeixa-a-Nova, Portugal at 17th of September 2017.
