The Crocker-Kingsley Exhibition was first juried in 1940, a tradition that continues to the present day. Over the past 80 years, this prestigious show has included many premier names in American and California art, including Robert Arneson, Elmer Bischoff, Fred Dalkey, David Gilhooly, Ralph Goings, Gregory Kondos, Roland Petersen, Mel Ramos, Ruth Rippon, and Wayne Thiebaud. In the past, this competition has solely featured California artists. However, starting in 2021, the exhibition will be open to submissions from all artists nationally. Works selected by this year’s juror, Carrie Lederer will be on display in all 4 galleries at Blue Line Arts.

Juror: Carrie Lederer

Carrie Lederer is a painter, sculptor and installation artist who exhibits her nature-inspired work across the United States. She has built site-specific installations for Turtle Bay Museum, de Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, San Jose ICA, and many others. The Art Guild invites all artists, high school and older, to submit artworks for consideration for “JUSTICE” a Juried Competition and Exhibition. Artwork can say what sometimes words cannot. During these difficult times, we have been inspired to look within ourselves, find ways to “speak out,” and express solidarity and compassion. Show us those emotions and what has empowered and inspired you to address social justice.

CRITERIA All styles from abstract to realism are welcome. All works must be original and have been created in the last five years. References used in the creation of the submitted work must be the artist’s own, or copyright-released for use in this work. The curating committee’s decision is final.

Las Laguna Gallery is proud to announce our first Quick Sketch Competition.

This competition will run from March 1st, 2018 through July 31st, 2019.

We are seeking 8x10 submissions on heavy duty drawing paper, watercolor paper, or canvas paper ONLY. The Subject matter and Medium are open (no photography, jewelry, sculpture, etc) as long as they meet the paper restrictions and size.

Each month, Las Laguna Gallery will select 2 pieces to be hung in our Laguna Beach Gallery the following month. The artist will only need to mail us the 8x10 original - we will do the matting and framing.

Additionally, each month Las Laguna Gallery will select 8 additional pieces (10 pieces total) as Finalists for the Cash Prizes and possible inclusion in our September Quick Sketch exhibition.

The 10 Finalists from each month’s selections will be compiled in July 2019 for an online vote competition to be held on Facebook and our website. The top 20 vote getters will be selected to exhibit in our September Quick Sketch show.  The top 3 pieces (based 50% on popular vote and 50% on LLG jury) will be awarded Cash Prizes, as well.

You may enter in as many months as you wish. The fee to submit is $15 for first piece, plus $5 for each add’l piece (up to 10 total) on CaFE. The fee to submit is $25 for 1-3 pieces, using Submittable.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with! Start sketching! (and painting, etc!)
