Into The Art Exhibition

Into the Art is a exhibition dedicated to creating cohesive environments for all forms of art that people can fully immersive themselves into in all aspects, from sound, sight, smell, and emotionally. We welcome artist of all disciplines to apart of this grand exhibition held at The Greenpoint Gallery, 390 McGuinness Blvd, Brooklyn, NY from November 15 -22, 2019 with a opening and closing reception. We are looking for artist in the following categories whose work fits within the themed rooms shown in the application. It is open to artist 18 years or older in the US. Overview

Banff Centre is committed to the development, and production of new works in all major performance disciplines and encourages bold collaborations. Indigenous Performing Arts residencies are designed for Indigenous artists to work on the initial creation phase of a new work in one or more of our studio spaces.

What does the program offer?

This residency offers a range of work spaces and facilities depending on participants' needs and availability. Banff Centre provides limited production support for these residencies. Additional technical support may be negotiated when possible. Partial residencies may be available.

6thAnnual Mbongui Square Festival 2019

Date of Festival: December 20, 21, & 22 
Locations: Shawl Anderson Dance Center (Berkeley) 
& Idora Park Project Space (Oakland)

Mbongui Square Festival promotes the intersectionality of art forms and encourages ethnic diversity. This event creates a bridge between local, national and international artists to enrich the local experience and reinforce the vision of a society that coalesces through the art of dance, music, spoken word poetry, and visual arts.

Musical Theatre Creation

Overview

Theatre Alberta, Alberta Playwrights’ Network, and Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity are proud to welcome Bob Martin and Lisa Lambert, creators of the award-winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone, for a master class in Musical Theatre Creation. 

We are in a new golden age of musical theatre. Writers and composers are exploring daring topics, forms, and styles. This three-day workshop will provide playwrights and theatre creators with tools and insights that can be applied to their own writing practice, and an opportunity to learn about Martin and Lambert’s’ unique and collaborative style of musical theatre creation.

Projection Technologist Practicum

Overview

Throughout the summer, practicum participants will implement video equipment in support of Banff Centre’s Performing Arts residency programs. Participants will facilitate the video needs of the Performing Arts department under the supervision of a faculty mentor. 

The program also offers exposure to other multimedia disciplines at Banff Centre including 2D and 3D animation, VR, augmented reality, and interactivity for live performance.

Props Builder Practicum

Overview

Practicum participants will examine their core skills and develop those needed by a props builder in today’s theatre world. Through collaborative and individual instruction, assignments, and presentations, this program covers a wide variety of techniques.

Specific course content is determined by Banff Centre performance programming, for which participants will take an active part in the creation of props, from design through rehearsals to opening.
