Paradigm of modernity, since the first half of the 20th century, photography has become a means through which authors such as Florence Henri, Man Ray, László Moholy-Nagy, and many others, offer new visions of reality: all this is done by observing, analyzing and asking questions on several levels, such as a scientific, cultural, and social one, regarding objects / subjects, but also regarding the role and the deepest meaning of the photographic act.

Thanks to the advent of the digital world, its applications and its operational transversality, new techniques, procedures and conceptual approaches to the "writing of light" are today in continuous evolution. Contemporary experimental photography proposes new languages and new aesthetics concerning the experience of man in the relationship with the environment and its perception.

The aesthetic perception of the matter man relates to in his environment conditions his existence on a daily basis determining his own behavior, choices, ideas and vision of the world.

This call asks for an analytical reading, a visual-conceptual extraction of the things of the world, a minimal reduction aimed at extracting those essential signs, shapes, traces and contrasts that create those structures - often invisible - from which we gather information about their own existence, exposing their nature, their function, and which enrich our knowledge of the world.

Since the Paleolithic age, man, in leaving a mark and trace of himself on a support, has always shown an interest in grasping from the experience of life what he believes to have an important meaning, attributing to it a particular value. This anthropological behavior is well testified by the history of art, behavior which, with the evolution of man, reflects that greater awareness of the concept of transience, changeability and the ephemeral state of existence of things.

It is above all to the concept of "beauty" and "good" that modern man attributes the absolute values of his existence, concepts that are still conveyed today by every medium dedicated to art, from painting to photography, from video to digital media etc ..

The very nature of many new technologies of art demonstrate, in their production process, a purpose that has to do with the evanescent physicality of things of our reality, as photography demonstrates, with its retaining on the surface what passes through an evanescent and impalpable "writing of light".

It is quite often precisely the ephemeral state of things and the evanescent perception of them that arouse in us a passionate participation with them, useful to feed our being and to reactivate our senses.

Magic is all that is capable of transforming the aspects and dimensions of the real world in fantastic ways, within a suggestive and ecstatic atmosphere. Art, art’s practice and its product are the first testimony of form and expression of this realization.

Since the Paleolithic age, symbols acquire magical and propitiatory purposes, thus establishing a contact with divinities: primitive men entered deep caves, leaving traces of themselves through a creative act, getting lost in another dimension and then returning to the real world. Perhaps a reference to the cycle of life, death, union, rebirth.

It is an innate human instinct to re-create and live out fantastic dimensions, where everything is connected with everything and where everything is possible.
