The Family

The collection of the photographs on display will expose the meaning of the term "Family", through stories and thoughts.

Such a broad topic, "Family", grants the photographers multiple approaches within the experiential and autobiographical sphere - which makes the diaristic component implicit - but also documentary and conceptual, as the result of a reflection on the meaning of the "Family" in the modern age.

Urban & Street

The streets have long been an inspiration to photographers — offering nooks to hide, pathways to meander, and a psychogeographic web to traverse the collective narrative of everyday life. The streets serve as a hub of urban conversation, offering us a glimpse of the banal and unconventional, revealing and obscuring the connections to ourselves, each other, and our sense of place. How does your work find its locale in the complexity of the cityscape? Potential subject matter includes but is not limited to: architecture, cityscapes, documentary and street photography, found objects, and the analysis of our sense of “place.”

Guest Room: Christoph Wiesner & Aurélien Valette

Guest Room aims to spark collaboration. Christoph Wiesner, head of the Rencontres d'Arles, has decided to collaborate with philosophy and photography graduate Aurélien Valette.

Together, they have developed the following framework for your submissions: “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”.

Christoph Wiesner is head of the Rencontres d’Arles since 2020, the first international photography festival, and was artistic director of Paris Photo from 2015 to 2020. After spending 15 years at Berlin’s Esther Schipper gallery, he became senior director of the Yvon Lambert gallery in Paris in 2012. Christoph Wiesner was born in 1965. He lives and works in Paris and Arles.
