Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "portraits" to A Smith Gallery by March 23, 2020.  Entries of 11 or more images are entitled to a review of submitted entry images by the gallery directors.  The entry fee is $38 for the first 5 images and $7 for each additional image.  Fifty to fifty five images will be selected for exhibition and shown in the main gallery from May 8 to June 21, 2020.  A reception will be held on May 30, 2020 from 4 to 8pm.  A Blurb full color catalogue of the exhibit with all the accepted entries will be available for purchase. 

Juror for "portraits" will be Elizabeth Avedon, independent curator, photography book designer and writer. 

Prizes Details: 

Awards are $325 for Juror’s Award, $250 for Director’s Award, three Juror Honorable Mentions each receiving an exhibition catalogue, discretionary Director Honorable Mentions each receiving an exhibition catalogue and $100 for Visitors’ Award.

National Juried Portraits & Figures Show





We have chosen a new theme for this year’s juried show!  The Rice Gallery of Fine Art is now accepting submissions for Portraits & Figures: The 4th Annual National Juried Show!

This year’s juried event will celebrate the human form by exhibiting, promoting, and selling an exclusive survey of ORIGINAL PORTRAITS AND FIGURE PAINTINGS. Our experienced jurors will select the finest original paintings of human figures from artists all over the country for an exclusive feature show at The Rice Gallery of Fine Art, opening Friday, February 1st, 2019.

  • Artists may submit 1 to 5 images of their best human figure paintings to be judged on an individual basis by our experienced panel of judges.
  • All juried selections will be featured for sale in an exclusive gallery exhibition at The Rice Gallery of Fine Art, one of Kansas City’s premier fine art galleries. This show will be promoted via print, mail, and social media advertising.
  • All selected paintings will be eligible for CASH PRIZES!
  • All selected works will also be included in an online “digital art opening,” which will present images of each painting via Facebook, YouTube, and for our online audience to purchase and enjoy.

A non-refundable online application fee of $35 will be collected from each artist submitting their works. 

All entries must be submitted via CAFÉ ( no later than Monday, December 17th, 2018 (12/17/18).  Artists MUST be members of CAFÉ to submit their works. CAFÉ is free and easy to join for all artists.

Figurative 2018 Art Exhibition Results Announced by Art Gallery




Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is pleased to announce that its April 2018 art exhibition, the 8th Annual “Figurative” Art Exhibition is now posted on their website and can be viewed online.  The theme for this art exhibition is Figurative and artists were asked to submit their best abstract or representational figurative art for this competition. 

An international competition was held in March 2018 which determined the art for this exhibition. The gallery received submissions from 27 different countries and also received entries from 32 different states. Overall, 626 entries were judged for this art competition. 

Congratulations to the artists who have been designated as this month’s category winners, along with the winning Special Merit and Special Recognition artists. The gallery commends all of the winning artists for their artistic skill and their creativity, as this online art exhibition is indicative of their creativity.

Each month Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery conducts monthly themed online art competitions and art exhibitions for 2D and 3D artists on a worldwide basis. All participating winners of each competition have their artwork exposed and promoted online through the online gallery and through social media to thousands of visitors each month.

8th Annual "Figurative" Online Art Exhibition

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery announces an art call for the gallery’s 8th Annual “Figurative” Online Juried Art Competition for the month of March 2018.  The gallery invites all 2D and 3D artists (including photographers) from around the world to make online submissions for possible inclusion in the Gallery’s April 2018 online group art exhibition.    

Light Space & Time encourages entries from artists regardless of where they reside and regardless of their experience or education in the art field.  We suggest they send the gallery their best interpretation of the theme figurative”.  “Figurative” is considered to be figures, forms and faces.

The gallery will accept art on this subject that is either representational or abstract, but please, do not submit any erotic artThe deadline to apply is March 27, 2018.

Overall Category winning artists of the "Figurative" Art Exhibition will receive extensive worldwide publicity by having their winning art presented on The LST page will feature the artist’s art, an excerpt of their artists statement and their website URL as part of the gallery’s overall prize package.

In addition, the winning artists will receive extensive worldwide publicity in the form of email marketing, 1000+ press release announcements, event announcement posts and social media marketing.  Winning artists will also have their art exhibition results posted and promoted on ArtJobs/ ArtJobs/Artweek produces 800,000 page impressions per month, 280,000 website visitors per month and has 30,000 newsletter subscribers.  

Our goal is to make the art world aware of the exhibition and in particular, the winning artists’ accomplishments.   Links back to each artist’s website is included as part of this award package.

Your Face My Art - A Pop up Portrait Studio with a Difference!  

We are inviting artists (self employed, freelance) to take part in this fundraising event for Barnoon Workshop - where members of the public will be able to sit for their 'portrait' in under 15 minutes. The next event will be  weekends in April, and occassional twilight slots durig April.  We are looking for artists who are free for 2 hour slots or full days.

We will consider  artists using any medium or style, from traditional portraiture or cartoons, to mini sculpture, photographs, printings, models, digital drawing or conceptual  to apply.  Please send images or links that show 'portraits' done quickly to Zoe Eaton.

Payment: The portrait fee is shared with Barnoon and the artist.  The artist will receive £7.50 per portrait.

This exhibit presents 15 international artists work that are based on portraits from representational to abstract work and reveal the subject’s character, emotional state and or personality. These portraitures or self-portraits are more than just likenesses, they convey to the viewer the inner person. The artists’ outstanding works were selected from the following still medium categories: painting, drawing, collage, photography, sculpture, digital, etc.
