Photography Practicum | Media + Production

Overview

As part of the Photo Services team, Photography Practicum participants learn through exposure to a wide range of projects under the supervision and mentorship of Banff Centre staff and faculty.    

What does the program offer?

Practical skills are developed through exposure to all types of photography and to different areas of Banff Centre including the arts, leadership, mountain culture, and conference business.

Computational Arts Studio Practicum | Visual Arts

Overview

Studio Practicum programs provide an opportunity for participants to expand and enhance their technical skills in mediums supported by Banff Centre’s Visual Arts production facilities. 

This program offers practical experience supporting Visual Arts residency programs and artists in residence as they engage with interdisciplinary approaches toward art-making in the Digital Media facilities. Computational Arts Studio Practicum participants will also engage with experienced artists from a range of disciplines (including printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and photography) who seek to integrate new methods into their practice.

Audio Recording Engineer Practicum | Media + Production

Overview

The Audio Recording Engineer Practicum is intended as a continuing education experience for emerging recording engineers with mature artistic insight and advanced practical skills, including significant professional experience or a high level of professional training. Practicum participants learn about equipment, software, and recording techniques while working on a wide variety of projects.

Applications are being accepted for the following time periods:

September 30, 2019 – March 27, 2020 for international Applicants

September 10, 2019 – March 29,  2020 for Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada applicants only.

Digital Media Studio Practicum | Visual Arts

Overview

Studio Practicum programs provide an opportunity for participants to expand and enhance their technical skills in mediums supported by Banff Centre’s Visual Arts production facilities. 

This program offers practical experience in the areas of audio, animation, interactive media, computational media, digital fabrication, video production, and post-production for use in artistic practice.

Ceramics Studio Practicum

Overview

Studio Practicum programs provide an opportunity for participants to expand and enhance their technical skills in mediums supported by Banff Centre’s Visual Arts production facilities. 

In this program, participants will develop ceramics techniques through practical experience with kiln firing (electric, gas, soda, raku, and wood), and ceramics studio operation.

Participants will receive mentorship and feedback from the Ceramics Facilitator, and assist in the delivery of Visual Arts residency programs and events. Participants will also learn maintenance and safe operation of equipment, and provide assistance to the Ceramics Facilitator in support of artists in residence utilizing the ceramics facilities.
