Last Call for Manuscripts (Prose, Poetry, Art)

Last call for mansucripts from The A3 Press. Deadline is Tuesday, November 20th.

Do you have a series of poems or short stories, or maybe a long story that can be spread out over several pages? Maybe a short play in 12 parts or scenes, or even 12 very short plays? Do you have a combination of drawings and short stories? Or poems and photographs? Or maybe 12 drawings or photographs without text that would fit into our A3 map-fold format?

The A3 Press is a place for work that might struggle to find a traditional home, work that's lyrical and intense, a bit weird, perhaps, hybrid, experimental. We also welcome work that's traditionally beautiful. We like work that is urgent, that says something about what it's like to be alive at this point in history.

Our first six titles will appear in early 2019. We'll then publish six new titles every six months. For a chance to be one of our first six chapbooks, please visit our Submittable page for more details.

International Open Call for Submissions to Lungs Magazine Issue NO.3

Open Call for Lungs Magazine Issue No.3, themed "Poly Voices"

Lungs Project is a non-profit curatorial collective and publication founded in 2016.

Based in the North East of England, the project focuses on facilitating artistic development and network growth by merging visual arts, design, crafts, and literature to create a collaborative dialogue between various disciplines and to connect early career artists with new opportunities. As an independent initiative, Lungs Project aims to foster and disseminate critical thought and experimental methodologies through publishing and curating exhibitions.

The open call is aimed at a wide range of contemporary artists and writers of colour exclusively. In our third issue, we wish to explore the social and political implications of identity. The theme for our third issue is Poly Voices. The specifics of the theme require works which critically reflect on, comment and interpret our social reality today. Our goal is to interrogate this reality, and its multi-layered intersections such as gender, sex, origins, class, political orientation, and religion. We want to look at how contemporary artists of colour thematise the issues surrounding social identity. It is essential that you concisely present yourself and ideas so we can get a broader picture of your practice. We are open to various forms of creative practices from visual arts to illustration, from filmmaking to fiction.

Applications are free. To apply for the open call, please email with information below:

  • A CV & Biography (your exhibition histories, interests, background)

  • For visual artists; A recent portfolio (these should also include links to your blog or website, and your social handles)

  • For writers and poets; Web links or PDF documents of text no longer than 3000 words per piece. (we are looking for poems, essays, interviews, fiction, and flash fiction)

We are looking forward to receiving your submissions.
