Queer Conscience 2023 Photography Exhibition

Juried by: Kari Orvik, Nathan Lomas, and The Image Flow

The Image Flow invites artists closely tied to the LGBTQIA2+ community to submit work to our juried photography exhibition Queer Conscience 2023.

What could you do with a clear conscience? Who could you be? How could you live, free of judgment, shame, expectation, or fear?

The queer experience is unlike any other, and even within our vibrant community, no two queer identities are quite alike. This is what has the power to unite us; a respect for our differences that can create bonds like family. Living as a queer person can be complex, and frightening, and beautiful all at once.

Glitter in my wounds

The call is directed at artists that identify as queer and who work with any art medium (visual artists, filmmakers, writers, performers).

The Exhibition:

“Glitter in my wounds” takes its title from the homonym poem by queer author CAConrad. (Read it here)

The exhibition wants to be a celebration of queer artists and activists and to raise awareness of the discrimination and oppression that queer people still face in our society.

If interested, please get in touch before June 27th.

Please include the following in your email:  1. Your name and pronouns 2. Social Media and/or website 3. Links to up to 3 works including price information 4. Artist bio

Selected artists will be notify by 30 June.

Unearthing the Archive

Curator - Aidan Cowling (CANADA)

In a short amount of time, the Internet and digital technologies have dramatically  changed the way we live our lives, and we are beginning to register and quantify how  our daily contact with the digital world has altered the archive. How is technology being  mobilized today to preserve and present archive and history? This residency invites

participants to experience ANIMA Casa Rural through the lens of the archive, and  consider how can the historical archive be used to find a way forward and makes sense  of today.

THE QUEER ARCHIVE FESTIVAL 2021

Introduced to the Athenian cultural scene in 2020 by the creative platform The Queer Archive with the support of Onassis Stegi, “The Queer Archive Festival” is looking forward to a strong comeback in May 2021 to celebrate the rich and vibrant queer culture of the city of Athens and beyond.

The second edition of “The Queer Archive Festival” will take place in a variety of traditional and alternative spaces within the centre of the city. In recent years, the Greek capital has grown into a genuine queer arts kernel. This burgeoning queer art scene does not only challenge dominant narratives, but also revels in the margins and the growing popularity of the fringes.
