Banff International Curatorial Institute Fellowship | Visual Arts

Program Overview

The Banff International Curatorial Institute (BICI) Fellowship program supports established curators, arts writers, cultural critics, researchers, and artists in focusing deeply on the development of their work. The program allows for self-directed research over an extended period of 12 weeks, within the creative and intellectually stimulating environment of Visual Arts at Banff Centre. Up to four participants will be selected by an international jury for this unique, fully scholarshipped program.

Open Call - Artists in Residence 2019 - AADK Spain - Centro Negra

AADK Spain understands residency programs as contextualized spaces, where location models the practices on, and modifies both its participants and the local communities. Thus, our Artistic Residences are an interdisciplinary and socially committed program that offers its attendants a space for analysis and production. It aims to facilitate research in rural environments, highlighting the value of local knowledge as a mean to re-think how these locations can position themselves in an era of massive urbanization through a social, historical and geographical perspective. Throughout their stay participants conform a temporary community that shares experiences and processes, fostering debate and a transversal perspective of their projects.

Artquest - The Horniman Residency

Artquest, in partnership with the Horniman, are offering a research residency for one London based artist to focus on our collections (Anthropology, Aquarium and Animal Walk, Archive, Butterfly House, Natural History, Gardens or Musical Instruments). The residency includes an award of £3000 to engage with the work and collections of the museum, an additional award of £850 towards a public facing event showcasing the thinking and research undertaken during the residency and privileged access to museum’s music collection objects and curators. We particularly welcomes applications from artists with a participatory or socially engaged practice.

Applications Open for Jerwood Makers Open 2019

Jerwood Makers Open, now in its seventh edition, is a biennial opportunity and seeks to support exceptional skill and imagination in what are traditionally described as the applied arts. JMO has established itself as one of the best regarded opportunities for makers in the craft calendar. The award and exhibition freely allow makers to develop their creative ideas and further their practice independently of specific commissioning structures. The resulting work will be shown in a group exhibition as part of the Jerwood Visual Arts programme at Jerwood Space in London next summer, before touring across the UK.
