Ongoing Residency Open Call for 2023

Can Serrat, of approximately 1187 square meters, is an old classic Catalan farmhouse. In 1989, eleven Norwegian artists bought the house and began renovations. Can Serrat is located in the beautiful surroundings of El Bruc, a small village that overlooks the mountain of Montserrat, and is only 45 kilometers from Barcelona. The house offers different spaces and workshops to work in an impressive natural environment. A pleasant walk takes you from the house to the foot of the mountain, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the nails of Montserrat.

FREE FILM : NYC kicks off 2023 by turning towards WORTHLESSSTUDIOS’ home city of New York to uncover a new truth about the old topic of community.

Visual Arts: Banff Artist in Residence - Summer 2023

Overview
The Banff Artist in Residence program is designed for visual artists to focus on their practice in a supportive learning environment. Participants are encouraged to self-direct their research and time, as well as cultivate new directions in their work. The experience of artists in residence is further supported through individual studio visits with guest faculty and dialogue amongst peers.

The program encourages experimentation and risk-taking via access to shared production facilities and knowledgeable staff who are available to provide technical support and assistance.

The 2023 International Summer Program @ The Watermill Center

Our longest-standing program, the International Summer Program unites a community of international artists for a creative intensive at our East End Campus each summer. It offers a unique opportunity to advance one’s artistic practice in a communal and experimental environment and work alongside established arts professionals worldwide.

Culminating in our Annual Summer Benefit, the Summer Program provides the time and space for emerging artists to develop new works that push the boundaries of contemporary creative practice. The artists – from different disciplines, countries, and backgrounds – share meals, exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, attend workshops, and participate in the daily life of The Watermill Center.
