SEMESTER OF BITS & ATOMS

SEMESTER OF BITS & ATOMS

March — July 2024

The syndicate of Transmedia Research Institute aims to investigate the post-organic framework in its 2024 endeavor. The seal of flesh that divided the human being from the physical and virtual stratifications of reality has been hacked, the boundaries between "human" and "machine", "natural" and "artificial" have lost all ontological value.

PROTOCOGNITION

The Arts Exhibition and Performances organised by Bristol Art Gallery and Unconventional Computing Lab UWE Bristol.

Protocognition refers to the ability of non-living creatures and substances without a nervous system to acquaint themselves with information, recognize stimulatory spaces, accumulate knowledge, and develop wisdom. It encompasses various processes such as sensing, decision mapping, learning, reasoning, believing, and even exhibiting emotional states through chemical and physical substrates.

Art Explora x Cité internationale des arts residency programme

The Art Explora x Cité internationale des arts residency programme gives artists and researchers from around the world the opportunity to develop research and creative work in the heart of Paris, in connection with the French artistic and professional scene. It encourages creation in all its forms while facilitating its dissemination to the greatest number of people. The work of the residents focuses on the themes of scientific and technological exploration and addresses the major social and environmental issues of our time.

Art Explora has 8 residential studios in the Cité internationale des arts of Montmartre and welcomes about twenty artists in residency each year.

Two programs are proposed:
