Chargehand vacancy at The Old Vic

The Old Vic is looking for an enthusiastic and technically competent (LX) Chargehand to support the Electrics department.

Key areas of responsibility will be:
The provision, maintenance and operation of equipment in performance spaces.
Assisting in the delivery of a busy programme of productions, events and learning activities.

Essential criteria :
Proven relevant experience of working in a producing theatre environment.
Knowledge and active experience within a range of technical systems to include;EOSFamily Consoles, Intelligent Fixtures, AV and Live Sound.
Experience of equipment maintenance andPAT.
Good IT literacy, with experience of Vectorworks, AutoCADand Lightwright.
Ability to follow instructions and a high attention to detail.
A clear understanding of current health and safety legislation.
A flexible attitude to working hours as evening and weekend working will be required.

Call for Commissions: LightNight Liverpool 2017



LightNight, Liverpool's latenight arts festival, returns on Friday 19 May 2017.

The next instalment of one of Liverpool's biggest and best loved cultural events will be themed around the phenomenon of Time.

Don't miss the chance to be part of this special night and showcase your offer to thousands of visitors of all ages! Last year the festival received more than 72,000 visits in a single night, with more than 100 special events staged across 50 city centre venues.

Open Culture has secured Arts Council funding for a maximum of ten artistic commissions, of up to 1000, for the 2017 programme.

We are looking for emerging or established artists living or working in the UK. Proposals in any artform are welcome including visual arts, sculpture, technology, moving image, spoken word, performance, installation, light art or any combination of these.

We are looking for high-quality projects that are thought-provoking and engaging to the senses exploring the 2017 theme which isTime.

These commissions will present opportunities for artists to create work which is:

- presented as part of a major festival that reaches a large and varied audience
- made in collaboration with a new organisation or venue
- challenging but accessible for new audiences


The deadline for applications is Sunday 8 January 2017.Successful projects will receive up to 1000 for all artist fees and materials.

Drama Games Masterclass!




Drama Games Masterclass

Bigfoot Arts Education, the UKs largest provider of creative and educational workshops, is now taking bookings for its Drama Games and Exercise Masterclass.

This course is a chance for drama workshop leaders and class teachers to get together in a safe environment and try out new games and exercises and explore different ways to facilitate those classics that we all know and love!

We will look at traditional, stock games and how best to facilitate them or give them a new spin, create brand new games from scratch, explore the different ways that existing games can be used to enhance different areas of the curriculum and also explore advanced facilitation techniques to ensure that you get the most out of each and every game!

All participants will receive a typed up hand-out of all of the games played on the day our record is 50 games in a day!

This day is perfect for any facilitator looking for new game and exercise inspiration or

for anyone wishing to increase their repertoire of games.

Xmas Relaxed Singalong - Sat 3rd Dec - 10:30am



Getready forthe Xmas Relaxed Singalong coming up on the morning of Saturday 3rd Decemberat Kettering Music and Performing Arts Centre.

These FREE sessions are specifically tailored towards the needs and abilities of children with special educational needs, communication disorders and other disabilities. But, as importantly, the sessions are also very much open to all the family... both young and old.

Our team of specialist artists lead participants through a wide range of different songs to suit all ages, abilities and interests.

We uselots of different props to make the songs interesting and exciting (e.g. real bubbles with "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles") as we as some assistive music technology (e.g. digital switches) so everyone can join in.

A signer is also present at the session and Makaton symbols are used to help some of the children understand the meaning of the song and follow the lyrics.

The Company is seeking to appoint a Digital Marketing Officer to work closely with both the Production Department and Education Company to manage and deliver the internal and external digital marketing and communications strategy as the Company expands its national and international profile, alongside assisting in the further development of its surroundings.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • An excellent grasp of social media and new technology
  • A good understanding of the performing arts world and in particular contemporary dance
  • Good team working and people skills
  • Copywriting skills with excellent attention to detail

Told by an Idiots popular intensive Directors workshop is back for the seventh year running!

The role of the Director in the devising process isnt always straightforward but can be the most rewarding experience a Director can have. This fascinating and intensive workshop led by Told by an Idiot co-founder and Artistic Director Paul Hunter will examine in depth the role of the Director during a collaborative writing project.

By exploring some of the crucial aspects of devising, including establishing trust, creating a playful atmosphere, liberating the performer, generating materials (verbal and physical), editing and the relationship with the creative team, the participants will gain a unique insight into Told by an Idiots devising process from a Directors perspective.
