Call for Submissions LGBTQIA+ and Allies

Eligibility:

Call for submissions for an anthology on the experiences of LGBTQIA+ persons and allies on reconciling their faith, gender identity and sexuality. Submissions are accepted starting April 1-July 31, 2021. The following submissions will be accepted: art, photograghy, poems, fiction, non-fiction, short stories, comics, sermons, essays, chants and prayers.

 

Guidelines:

  1. There is no entry fee
  2. All submitted works must be unpublished
  3. We do not accept simultaneous submissions, let us know immediately if your work is published or accepted elsewhere.
  4. All submissions must include a short and current bio, pen name, physical address, email address, and phone number
  5. All work must be your own.
  6. Prose Format- Submit your work in MS Word (.doc, .docx) or Open Office format. Use 12 font, double spaced, Times New Roman with one- inch margins. Please include your name within the footer of the document. Limit of 5000 words.
  7. Art Format- Up to four high resolution files preferably within JPEG (.jpg) or PNG (.png) format, 900-1500 pixels wide, 300 dpi or greater. We reserve the right edit or crop submissions to fit the page.
  8. Each artist will be compensated $25 for every published work

 

Terms and Agreement

The anthology retains first publishing rights on works published in print or online, with non-exclusive rights to reproduce, display, and or distribute the submission(s) as a part of the anthology in electronic format. Publishing rights revert back to the submitter, twelve months after initial publication.

Only submissions submitted electronically via email to faith.lgbtqia@gmail.com will be accepted. All submitters will receive a response with the status of their acceptance or non-acceptance within 60 days.

Overview
An ideal environment for artistic inspiration and growth, Writing Studio Online 2021 provides writers and poets with extended mentorship and interaction with exceptional faculty. Focused on early and mid-stage career writers of fiction (or other narrative prose) and poetry who are currently working towards developing a book-length manuscript with the guidance of an experienced mentor. 

What does the program offer?
This program is designed to offer talks, readings, Q&A sessions and mentorship in accordance to each individual participant’s needs and desired outcomes, in addition, the opportunity to work with our esteemed faculty mentors during the two-week program.

Who should apply?
Early and mid-stage career writers of fiction (or other narrative prose) and poetry who are seeking to develop a book-length manuscript with the guidance of an experienced mentor. Our focus is on revising a section of the manuscript. This program is designed for published poets, writers of fiction, and other narrative prose. 

We welcome writers from all backgrounds, and all gender identities and expressions.

*Financial Aid up to 100% is available for this program.

Dictionary of Colors

Eligibility:

“Dictionary of Colors” is the fourth, and final, issue of Volume 1 of The Mobile Library. The Mobile Library provides a multi-digital exhibiting experience for artists and writers to showcase their work during the pandemic closures. Each publication is unique, paring artists and writers together at different stages in their career to build a collaborative experience.

Volume 1 Issue 4 is seeking 6 writers and 6 artists to submit drawings to help us create a fine art literary coloring book. This coloring book will be available for download to anyone from anywhere to participate in The Mobile Library. We hope this collaborative experience will provide a much needed distraction during the pandemic closures.

Indigenous Arts | Writing Over Here: Open Rezidency ONLINE

Overview

Write Over Here: Open Rezidency is a three week online self-directed residency, where self-motivated writers are invited to work within their community to engage with faculty to support their practice.  Participants will meet with the faculty team via Zoom for weekly gathering where they cohort will come together to connect, share readings, and have deeper discussions on their process. 

Throughout the residency, faculty will offer one-on-one meetings, as well as workshops that explore different writing practices. Writers will have the opportunity to engage with faculty throughout their time as needed and scheduled, and are encouraged to connect with their peers, as well as continue to engage in their independent writing practice on and offline.

What Does the Program Offer?

Write Over Here: Open Rezidency offers participants the opportunity to focus on tools to help create the time and space to write from home. Writers will deepen their artistry and technical application with Literary mentorship from faculty of various writing genres, create peer relationships and expand their professional networks, and have the opportunity for possible collaborations following their time with at Banff Centre. This is a self-motivated residency and encourages participants to discover best practices to engage and inspire writing to happen at home. 

Who Should Apply?

This residency is open to Indigenous people from all regions locally, nationally, and internationally, however participants will need to factor in the time zone consideration as online activities will be centered within Mountain Standard Time. This residency is an ideal fit for both Indigenous emerging writers, and established writers with a professional writing practice, who are comfortable reading and sharing their original material.

Artists should have produced at least one published body of work, and received recognition through public presentation in performance or recordings as well as from their peers.
