The transformation of our cities through cultural programming that engages the public directly is at the core of Carron Little's practice as an artist and curator. She produces solo and ensemble interactive performances, public engagement projects for neighborhoods and cities and curates the public performance festival Out of Site, Chicago. Her practice starts by interviewing a diverse publics that becomes the starting point for poetry, performance and a visual arts practice. Based in Chicago, she grew up in Britain receiving a BA First Class Honors from Goldsmiths College, U.K. and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she has been teaching in Performance since 2014. Little has exhibited, performed and screened films of her work locally and internationally. Little was nominated for the Shapiro Research Fellowship from the Shapiro Research Center at SAIC in 2016 to 2017 to develop a critical analysis of Out of Site public performances. She is currently working on the public engagement project Spare Rib Revisited that she has developed in Lucerne, Switzerland (2016 - 2018) and Liverpool U.K. (2017). Over the past two years she has performed her poetry at Burren College of Art, Ireland, Sarajevo Winter Festival, Bosnia, Grand Rapids, Berlin Performing Arts Fesitval, Germany and Loge Theater & Woerdz 2018, Spoken Word Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland and Montgomery College in Maryland, USA. In August 2019, she has been invited to Watershed in Sofia, Bulgaria and Riga, Latvia and in June 2020 to Paris to create a public performance and present at a conference discussing Queering Urban Space.
