- About -

Heather McDonough was born in Pennsylvania, USA and has lived most of her life in the UK. She has lived with her family in Dalston, Hackney, London, for over twenty years. Much of her recent work features her local community and environment of the East End of London, an inner city borough going through change and gentrification. Many of her projects are in the East End Archive, supported by The Cass, London Metropolitan University, where she is lecturer in Photography (BA Fine Art/BA&MA Photography/BA Graphic Design). She runs the Photography Short Course programme at the Cass. She has been involved in local projects running a variety of workshops for the local community, local museums and photo festivals; including the Whitechapel Gallery, Bow Arts Centre, and the Eastern Curve Garden and PhotoMonth – East End of London Photography Festival. She was commissioned by Four Corners for the My Aldgateeast Project. She photographed people in Brick Lane and this work was shown at the Ideas Store, Whitechapel, December 2018.
