MONTANHA Pico Festival - art and adventure in january (mountain-themed artistic proposals welcome); Azores Fringe Festival (most-democratic festival where all-arts welcome) happens in all 9-islands of the arquipelago during the month of june; Cordas World Music Festival (string-instrument based) with stages in lakes, gardens and a traditional auditorium, during the month of september; AnimaPIX (from illustrated books to animated films) in december; regular season of art exhibitions, theatre, dance, music, and an outdoor gallery of art in nature that always welcomes proposals. Contests include an annual Mountain Photography Event.
