Georganne Watters is an internationally celebrated printmaker. Her one of a kind prints are unique not only in size, but also because of their powerful, provocative, and larger than life graphic appeal. “When I begin working on a print, it is only after much time of having a figure come to me; and along the way, she becomes a character with a story to tell.” ~Georganne Watters Georganne Watters spent her youth in Japan leading her to study with traditional Japanese painting and printmaking masters. She incorporates aspects of her early training in her work as she explores the journeys and stories of her characters. Her monumental prints evoke a hauntingly provocative presence where her mystical characters dominate their worlds. Recent assemblages of her prints into sumptuous kimono, referred to as, “something to wear,” offer a sculptural vantage point. The kimono houses both the internal and external world of each character, enhancing the poetry of her work. Watters works in Portland, Oregon and shows in selected local, national and international locations. She holds a bachelor's degree in Art from Marylhurst University and a Master's of Fine Art in printmaking from San Francisco Art Institute. She has taught printmaking, drawing and art history at the college level for over 20 years. View more of her work and profile on Instagram and at
