BIG INK at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, Annapolis, MD

BIG INK, a nationally recognized print arts organization, is coming to Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in 2019.  Maryland Hall has invited BIG INK to host a two-day event where prints will be pulled from large-scale woodblock plates carved ahead of time by sixteen artists.  We are seeking image proposals from emerging, mid-career, and established visual artists who would like to carve a woodblock, at least 24" x 36" in dimension, to print at the event.  No prior printmaking experience is required. Any artist that has an interest in print media and wants to achieve a deeper understanding of woodblock carving is welcome to apply.

Call for Artists - REST / RETREAT - Wake up screaming #15

This month’s Wake up screaming will touch on themes of rest, retreat and recuperation, but also on themes such as the moon, dreams, autumn, hibernation, religious holidays, maybe even reaching into realms of death, religion and perhaps some themes I haven’t even thought about yet. I will be thinking about rest and how this can enhance my creative action in the long run.

In Full Bloom

J. Mane Gallery invites submissions for its In Full Bloom botanical and floral online juried art exhibition for the month of October 2018.

Throughout the history of art, certain subjects have resonated particularly strongly with artists and audiences alike. Trends reveal art's most popular muses, with flowers at the forefront.

Rooted in ancient art and still prevalent today, depictions of blossoms, blooms, and other botanical elements can be found in many of the most significant art movements, whether carved into clay or starring in a still-life.
