Color: Classic to Contemporary

The Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild is pleased announce a call for entries for the 2019 juried exhibit, Color: Classic to Contemporary, an exploration of the fearless use of color in fiber arts, for artists working in all fiber media. Founded in 1955, the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild has a rich history of supporting and promoting excellence in textiles and fiber arts. The guild’s Biennial of Textiles exhibit is the longest, continuous running juried show in the Southeast. The exhibit will run from May 4 - July 27, 2019, with an opening reception on May 11 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Internationally known fiber artist, Kathrin Weber, will be the juror for this exhibit. Monetary awards will include 1st place, $600; 2nd Place, $400; 3rd place, $200; and student $150.

We have chosen a new theme for this year’s juried show!  The Rice Gallery of Fine Art is now accepting submissions for Portraits & Figures: The 4th Annual National Juried Show!

This year’s juried event will celebrate the human form by exhibiting, promoting, and selling an exclusive survey of ORIGINAL PORTRAITS AND FIGURE PAINTINGS. Our experienced jurors will select the finest original paintings of human figures from artists all over the country for an exclusive feature show at The Rice Gallery of Fine Art, opening Friday, February 1st, 2019.

'The Sound of Colour' art exhibition

'The Sound of Colour’ is a music-inspired collaborative exhibition, in which we invite emerging artists to showcase with us for our first exhibition of 2019 at Creative Arts Hub in Mirfield, West Yorkshire.

We're returning to the Creative Arts Hub in Mirfield, West Yorkshire to start 2019 with a creative bang! 

'The Sound of Colour' is our first exhibition of the year, set to feature an exciting collaboration of painting, print and photography works inspired by music! We're looking for creations based on portraits of celebrated musicians (living and deceased), as well as abstract works inspired by both modern and contemporary festivals, dance and music.

Exhibition dates: Sat 12 January - Sat 23 February 2019

The Burke Prize

Named for Marian and Russell Burke, two passionate collectors of craft and longtime supporters of MAD, the Burke Prize is an annual award that reinforces the Museum’s commitment to celebrating the next generation of artists working in and advancing the disciplines that shaped the American studio craft movement.

The prize is an unrestricted $50,000 award made to a professional artist age 45 or under working in glass, fiber, clay, metal, or wood.

Each fall, the Museum presents an exhibition of works by the Burke Prize finalists. The winner is announced at the MAD Ball, the Museum’s annual fundraising gala. Learn about the 2018 Burke Prize finalists and exhibition here.
