Create a large woodcut with BIG INK at [Artspace] at Untitled, Oklahoma City, OK

BIG INK is partnering with [Artspace] at Untitled for an event that fosters appreciation for the art of woodcut printmaking. On May 4th & 5th, 2017 BIG INK will utilize [Artspace's] 46" x 72" etching press to pull prints. May 6th will be dedicated to steamroller printing outdoors with local high school students. BIG INK volunteers will help pre selected artists print woodcuts en plein air. The finished prints will be hung in a highly visible area, creating a viewing gallery for all to enjoy.

Create a large woodcut with BIG INK at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, Hyattsville, MD

BIG INK is partnering with Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center in Hyattsville, MD for an event that fosters appreciation for the art of woodcut printmaking. On April 1st & 2nd, 2017 BIG INK will bring a 48” x 96” mobile printmaking press to Pyramid. BIG INK volunteers will help pre selected participating artists print woodcuts en plein air. The finished prints will be hung in a highly visible area, creating a viewing gallery for all to enjoy.

Piranesi: Architecture of the Imagination

Piranesi: Architecture of the Imagination, a selection of etchings by Venetian-born printmaker Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720–1778), from the Santa Barbara Museum of Art’s collection is currently on view in the Ridley-Tree Gallery. Piranesi, a printmaker, architect, and antiquarian, produced thousands of printed books and participated in archaeological excavations. Through fantastical sweeping vistas and soaring spaces, Piranesi sought to create an affective experience that would strike awe and admiration into antiquarians and intellectuals around Europe.
