The Adrastus Collection invites curators of any nationality to participate in the open competition for the selection of Junior Curator of the Collegium. The Collection is centered on the most representative expressions of the XXI Century that circulates in the peripheries of capitalism and of western hegemonies; resulting in the creation of a platform that gives visibility to those voices that are always far from the art market’s microphones. With an acquis in continuous search for expansion, the Adrastus Collection includes more than 750 works by 150 artists from over 40 countries in 5 continents, with artists that have had the capacity to dislocate economic, political and cultural structures through the introduction of complex artistic devices. The Adrastus Collection holds among its main objectives establishing a permanent seat in Spain, in particular within the Town of Arévalo, on the site known as the Jesuit College and San Nicolás Church, both presently in disuse and in a state of ruin. Collegium is a center of education, research and experimentation of modern and contemporary art. Its headquarters are located in the city of Arevalo, Castilla y León. It is also a space for the production and conservation of artistic heritage.

The main responsibility of the Junior Curator of the Collegium will be to formulate the curatorial and artistic guidelines of the museum, ensuring the fulfilment of the main objective of the institution. It is essential that the candidate is interested in contemporary production, as well as in the development of the local art scene and its link with other national and international institutions.

Profile:

Ambitious and brilliant curator with the capacity of joining the project since its roots and the capacity to grow with it.

Experience in art institutions or museums and knowledge of contemporary art.

Efficient personality with strong attention to detail.

Studies in curatorship, museology or art history of preference.

Excellent verbal and written abilities in Spanish and English.

Multifaceted individual with the ability to work in a team.

Regional network of contacts.

Proactive and self-motivated individual without fear of long-term work commitment. 

Provision for a commitment of at least four (4) days in the city of Arevalo a week (100 kms from Madrid).

Availability to start face-to-face work from the second or third two-month period of 2020 (September).
