The Kiki Kogelnik Foundation is a non-for-profit organization seeking one intern to assist the foundation’s archivist with processing its archive collections held in NYC. The candidate will be working with diverse historical materials of the late artist, Kiki Kogelnik. The internship is aimed at students currently enrolled in graduate programs in Art History, Archival Studies, Library and Information Science, Museum Studies, or a related field, and at individuals that have very recently completed one of the named programs. The intern must be detail- and results-oriented and self-motivated, as well as be able to work independently. Candidates should have knowledge of archival processing and organization, digitization projects, cataloging. The internship will take place between January and April 2019; exact start and finish dates are flexible. The intern should be available to work 3-5 days a week, preferably 5 days.

 

Duties Include:

  • Handling and documenting of archival materials
  • Adequately packing archival materials
  • Digitizing records according to established protocols
  • Assisting with research tasks
  • Administrative tasks as assigned

 

Key Qualifications:

  • Prior archive, museum, or gallery experience/previous knowledge of basic archival methods
  • Excellent English language skills (written and verbal communication)
  • Knowledge of working on MAC, with Adobe CC, Microsoft Office
  • Decent scanning proficiency
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions

 

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Basic German language skills (reading proficiency)
  • Knowledge of modern and contemporary art
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 40 lbs
