Grear Patterson Studio | Administration Assistant

Grear is a multidisciplinary artist working out of Mount Vernon, NY and the Bronx with solo exhibitions have travelled around the world. His work is part of important institutional collections in Europe and the US. Grear is known for his hands-on, adventurous spirit, and a contagiously positive willingness to embark on any odyssey. Renowned for his minimal artwork, he is fearless when it comes to using found fabric; he has used parachutes and boat sails to construct chasmic sunset canvases that use the horizon as a metaphor for nostalgia, the landscape of youth sentiment and the process of absorption of contemporary culture. A visual artist and a filmmaker, he has collaborated with the likes of Harrison Ford, James Franco and Terence Koh. Giants Being Lonely will be his first feature-length film. 

We are looking for someone who is:

-familiar with Adobe Photoshop, and Indesign

(editing software skills a plus)

Day to day

This would be a personal assistant position to the artist both in his studio and film practice, but also everyday personal tasks

-archiving artwork

-email correspondence

-keep calendar and send reminder

-designing proposals

-reviewing finance/legal documents

-paying bills

-house maintenance 

-gallery correspondence

-studio upkeep

-managing supply levels

-putting through orders

-constantly keeping an eye out for improvements that can helpful

This is an entry level position is ideal for someone who is easy going and ok with flexible working hours. One day per week, with some correspondence in between. The main task is to keep the artist's paperwork and finances in working order, and organized.

Someone who would like to gain insight into a working artist's creative practice and methods in business. There are always new people coming through the studio and it is a chance to meet new people in the industry as well. 

Time would be split between the artist workspace and home in the Bronx, and his studio warehouse in Mount Vernon, NY (close to Mount Vernon West MetroNorth station and the 2 train)
