Job Description:
The primary function(s) and purpose of this part time, 20 hours per week position are to:
- Advise and oversee all aspects of undergraduate performance-based activities in a range of venues, ensuring safety throughout the process.
- Communicate and enforce safety protocol for university-sponsored undergraduate performance-based activities.
- Assess risk and control for liability in relation to all aspects of performance-based physical production and performer physical safety.
- Provide training to student groups appropriate to the scope of activity and student responsibility as determined on an event-by-event basis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in one or more of the physical performance-based production elements (scenic, lighting, sound, projections, costumes)or equivalent combination of education and experience
- MFA in technical theater or film production preferred
- Strong stage and facility management skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to work irregular and flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Strong problem solving skills and ability
- Working knowledge of stage rigging
- Basic stage craft skills
- Advance skill with regard to construction and best technical theater technology
- Comprehensive knowledge of lighting and sound equipment and best practices of operation
- Basic understanding of electricity
- Knowledge of Aerial Arts preferred
- Experience working with students preferred
- Experience with front of house procedures preferred
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred
- Lift certification preferred
- ETCP certification or training preferred
