Art Handler and Driver

Pocahontas Fine Art Services is seeking an experienced driver/fine art handler. Prior experience in the fine art industry with knowledge of industry standards in handling, installing and packing various works of art. The ideal candidate will have experience driving/working on a truck in the NYC area and is comfortable handling a wide variety of art works. Non-drivers will be considered but ideal candidates possess both skills.

Responsibilities:

- Safely operate large straight truck (non CDL) in NYC and tri-state area

- Proper handling and packing of various art works and securing in truck for safe transport

- Communicate with dispatch

- Preparation of paperwork including bills of lading, labeling, timesheets, and condition reports

- Solid experience installing and packing a wide variety various art works

- Heavy lifting required at times

- Interact with art professionals and collectors


Requirements:

- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

- 3 years experience driving large straight truck with a fine art moving company

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Thorough understanding and experience with industry standards for handling, packing & installing various works of art

- Ability to efficiently wrap/pack sensitive and valuable works of art

- Ability to work comfortably on a truck as well as client site

- Ability to work comfortably on ladders, scaffolding or mechanized lifts

- Professional appearance and demeanor

Experience with crate fabrication and carpentry are a plus. Experience with Filemaker, Excel, Voxme software a plus.
 Experience operating forklift, scissor lift or other heavy machinery a plus.
