Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award, Artist Commission 2020 to be hosted by The Tetley, Leeds

Engage and the Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award are delighted to announce that the 2020 Artist Commission will be hosted by The Tetley, Leeds.

The Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award (ARMA) was established in memory of the artist Alexandra Reinhardt and is supported by the Max Reinhardt Charitable Trust. The annual award, worth £15,000, funds an artist or artists to conceive and deliver a project which engages children and young people. The Award in 2020 focuses on the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, has been working with ARMA on the programme since 2012.

Artists/makers/creatives/performers needed.

Be a part of an immersive experience, experimental installation and performance exploring layers of confusion and belonging through sound, light and objects.

I am a MA performance design student at the University of Leeds, and I am currently working in collaboration with Jonathan Parker (hoppla creative and Inkwell arts) on an extension of a piece developed in Germany whilst on an artist residency. The piece is story, and originally an object and promenade performance, I am developing it into a sound installation with interactive live elements.

I have two roles to fill:

Shine Emerging Artist Programme

The SHINE programme aims to nurture and develop new talent, giving artists the opportunity to exhibit or perform new work at 5 of the LUTN festivals (Light Night Leeds, Lightwaves at Salford Quays, Enchanted Parks in Gateshead, Light Up Lancaster and LightPool in Blackpool). Up to four artists or collectives will be awarded bursaries of up to £4,000 each to realise their new artwork. The artwork has to be suitable for a winter light festival, artistically challenging/interesting and of high quality, have a strong element of digital/technology within its design, and be resilient enough to withstand the winter weather at multiple festivals (September - December) and transportation across our festival network.
