Christmas Wreath Making classes


Join Damaris Copus for a friendly and relaxed workshop who will demonstrate and guide you through how to create a unique and long lasting wreath using your choice of freshly gathered greenery, beautiful berries and seed heads and, if you wish, ribbons or other trimmings

You will also pick up the following skills:

- There will be opportunity to bend and twist pliable lengths of willow, hazel or dogwood to use as your frame...or if prefered there are copper wire florists frames

- How to use florists wire and tape to secure your foliage

- Understand design, proportion, balance and placing of 'flashes' of colour in your wreathe

Gain inspiration to create more wreathes or table decorations at home following the workshop

Damaris has been collecting and drying seed heads and flowers over the past months. The allium heads and love in a mist look especially pleasing. There will be a huge selection of materials available so that everyone can make a true one off piece to their taste. All materials and tools provided.All you need to bring is a good sized pinny to protect your clothes. We will have a break during the workshop, refreshments will be provided.

Provisional Driving - introduction to using a sewing machine


Provisional Driving Introduction To Using a Sewing Machine class has been developed to address the needs of those who have little or no experience of using a sewing machine. Through this class participants will learn not only basic sewing machine skills, but will develop the confidence to progress onto making things for themselves using a sewing machine.In the afternoon, put your new found skills into practise to create a practical item (a creative cushion or bag) in the"Creative Making on the Machine"class.

On completion of this class participants will confidently be able to:

- thread a sewing machine and wind a bobbin.

- feed fabric through, sew in a straight line and turn corners.

- explore the range of features and stitches on the machine.

- sew different types of seams.

- Understand how to hem the edge of the cloth.

- apply a pocket and patches.

Language of Dance® Free Workshop and Information Session


On Wednesday 15thFebruary 2017, the Language of Dance Centre will be holding a FREE Language of Dance Practical Workshop, followed by Information Session on the Level 1 Award in Movement Exploration accredited by NCFE.

The workshop is open to all and will explore some of the concepts within the Language of Dance Movement Alphabet. Please wear comfortable dance wear and be prepared to move! The information session will then explain the route to delivering the new Level 1 Language of Dance Award to students in your own school/college/organisation.

This event will be particularly beneficial for head teachers, teachers, therapists, SENCOs and dance practitioners, but everyone is invited to attend.

Make Yourself Comfortable: A drama based workshop


As part of this years Pexmas events, we would like to invite you to an evening ofexploration of wellbeing through drama-based exercises for anyone and everyone!

Using the five ways to wellbeing framework we would like to invite participants to explore wellbeing and how we look after ourselves and others in a fast paced and competitive city environment. We will use drama-based exercises to explore connections, being active, taking notice, continual learning and giving as key to wellbeing with the intention of creating a toolbox through sharing and creating strategies together as a group.

This is your opportunity to really focus on a range of content and be guided through a variety of free flow exercises. The blocks are also a perfect opportunity to build trust in the group. Nichola will adapt the content to suit the needs and interest of the group but the blocks of workshops usually include short story, poetry and life writing. We always start with our own voice, developing our confidence and style. We take inspiration from a range of sources.
