WHAT IS ART II | OPEN CALL

After a very successful first edition in December 2020, we have decided to start our 2021 program with “WHAT IS ART” second edition.

While some artists are keeping a very traditional approach to art, others are taking risks into the unknown and there has always been a constant debate about “What Is Art” and what makes it valuable.

In contemporary world success can be seen in both approaches, great examples are Damien Hirst and David Hockney, two of the worlds most famous and richest artists and yet with such a different approach to contemporary art.

The purpose of this exhibition is to create a dialogue between different approaches to contemporary art and to demonstrate that either way can be successful.

Our showcase is open to artists all around the world whose works have an experimental and innovative character.

We’re looking for brave and risky filmmakers, who enjoy exploring the sounds and the different touch other artists can provide to their images.

THE STORY

Drawing United latest collaboration is a colouring book but not any colouring book.

Aimed at kids between 4 and 10, this book intends to educate them about environmental issues we are facing and that they will probably face too as adults.

We have the contents sorted but are missing the cover design for it. This is when you come in, submit your idea as a cover design and get your name associated to this educational project.

THE BRIEF

The cover design should take into account the target audience and be themed around the protection of our environment.

Call for submissions for Media Arts Festival

For our next event hopefully everything will have gone back to 'normal,' and we can go back to having a live event. But we are prepared for another online event, like last time which got over ten thousand viewers. If everything is back to 'normal' we will also do a live event in Hackney, London.

Underneath the Floorboards is a media arts, experimental film festival held in London's buzzing artistic area of Hackney.

Our showcase is open to artists and filmmakers from all around the world whose work has an experimental, non-linear narrative form. We want to see variety, whether it be experimental film, video art, visual art, digital art, experimental documentary or animation.
