Assembly - Feature Documentary Development Lab Deadline. £10,000 Funding.

Assembly is a new development lab for creative documentaries which will take place in September 2019, organised by Open City Documentary Festival.

The programme is a project-based intensive workshop for international filmmakers working on their first or second feature. Participants from six selected projects will attend a four-day programme in London with talks, workshops and one-to-one mentoring followed by a closed pitch for £10,000 development funding. Participants will also be able to attend screenings, talks and networking events as part of Open City Documentary Festival 2019.

Deadline for Submissions: Open City Documentary Festival 2019

Submissions for Open City Documentary Festival 2019 are now open. We're looking for the most exciting and innovative non-fiction storytelling in short, mid-length and feature length documentaries, short audio documentaries, as well as cross-media projects (VR/AR/XR).

Open City Documentary Festival creates an open space in London to nurture and champion the art of creative documentary and non-fiction filmmakers, and over 4,000 people attended last year's festival to enjoy some of the very best in contemporary and international documentary.

Prizes are awarded in three categories: Open City Award, Best Emerging International Filmmaker Award, and Best UK Short Award (supported by the British Council).

Global Indigenous Voices - calling for playwrights

Global Voices is an UK based theatre project working with international playwrights to share new rehearsed readings. We are joining forces with Border Crossings’ ORIGINS Festival to present Global Indigenous Voices.

Curated by Mohegan theatre-maker Madeline Sayet, the evening will feature excerpts from five plays by Indigenous writers from around the world, and a post-performance discussion about the plays and the themes unearthed.

We welcome submissions from all Indigenous writers.

The performances of rehearsed excerpts will be taking place on Thursday 13th June 2019 at the British Library in London.

We are looking for plays from contexts beyond the UK; exploring issues and settings that audiences might not otherwise see in London theatres.

Colour International Artist Call

To roll in the summer, in style we are looking for artists and photographers whose work breaths colour and imagination. We are asking artists to submit a portfolio of up to six images that reflects the spirit and celebration that summer, love and colour bring.

Issue six (May/ June) will signal the beginning of summer, and we are after artwork that will express the summer vibe, exploring the freshness and beauty of nature, the hot sun in the sky and the happiness and good times that follow. We are looking for works in a variety of mediums, though painting and photography is preferable that celebrate the beauty and colour of our planet.
